    Sub-Board - Second Consumer Unit

Ok one more question ... sorry for all the anxieties. The hot / cold feed water pipes run very close to the subboard. I’m not so fussed about it leaking as it’s a continuous length. However the pipe runs pretty much over the top of the top cable feed into the board. I was thinking that...

    Sub-Board - Second Consumer Unit

OK fellas thanks for your help ... I'll try and whack a bit of insulation between the cable and pipe and rest easy in my bed tonight. (the cable runs under my bed).

    Sub-Board - Second Consumer Unit

I'm sure in this old lump there are many instances of lighting and socket cables crossing CH pipes ... I think my main concern is that the sub board could be pulling some amps. (2 x ovens plus kitchen & utility ring main etc) which I assume would raise the temperature of the cable anyway?

    Sub-Board - Second Consumer Unit

It crosses the flow pipe on the right as it turns the corner. In the next room Unfortunately that’s right under a small staircase so I can’t get to it. Looking in total it probably crosses about an inch... Flow / return in red Gaz in yellow

    Sub-Board - Second Consumer Unit

Soooo .... I headed the advice on here and just got the spark in to run the cables. I helped him get boards up etc but as directed let him design and choose the route for the 16mm cable. It’s a 25m run but aboit half way he’s poked through a hole and run the cable aside some heating pipes...

    Scratches from amtico

Hi all, I’ve seen methods on you tube using amtixo floor stripper and dressing to remove scratches but when I’ve tried (on a piece under a cupboard I scratched deliberately to test) it doesn’t work when following the instructions. In fact it’s actaully made it worse because now I have a...

    Vertical radiator - hiding pipes

Hey all, We are having a new vertical rad installed in the kitchen. It will be a new drop as the position has changed. The plumber suggested chasing the pipe into the wall which I’m happy to channel out but just wondered if anyone has any examples of what this might look like after plaster and...

    Arch repair

Because I’m not convinced that there’s anything other than the plaster holding that section of bricks up. It’s only a small section so I agree a strongboy is overkill but the strongboy under the arch will allow me to take out the shoddy Plasterboard stud arch that squares off the door frame, and...

    Arch repair

Gap in the market for sure .... As said earlier theres one joist of the original floor above sitting on that arch but the whole floor has also been supported in the opposite direction with some substantial joists. I’m not really concerned about the floor collapsing only the bricks in the arch...

    Arch repair

Thanks, think I’m going to do that and get my structural engineer to take a quick look.... although I’m pretty confident that the building has moved at some point a long time ago causing the original crack that’s just been plastered over to hide it in stead of actually putting some substance...

    Ventilation for loft conversion

Mine were the same, bit piddly for a floor given that my first floor ones are 10x3 monsters .... there were a few patches of floorboard in my attic so I think there may of been a room up there in days gone by. I found the remains of a bell system too ... wife told me where to go when I said...

    Arch repair

Thanks for commenting.... finding people to do “anything” is a ruddy nightmare! Even to come and have a look which is why I end up doing stuff myself. Obviously I want it to be safe so could I ask what you mean by safety? Why would stitching it cause a problem?

    Gas main / water main

Thanks ... yes that’s all I could find too so I guess it’s on. The water and gas pipes run to the boiler in close proximity but just thought I’d check about the main. Just couldn’t understand why it has to be 300mm away from the gas one side of the wall and not the other
