    A 'good' workbench?

I'd like to do a little diy but I haven't a lot a space to do it in. Therefore I'd like to get a workbench type affair that I can fold up and pack away and also take to my inlaws house occasionally as they have more space. However when I look around the net I constantly see people mentioning...

Places that will machine cut wood to order?

Thanks for the reply xerxes. That place looks exactly what I am after. I'm having real trouble finding a similar place in my area (Croydon/London) What are these places usually called? All I can find are loads of plain old timber merchants? What should I be using to narrow my search?

Places that will machine cut wood to order?

I'd like to get some wood cut to a plan that I've drawn up. Are there places that will do this sort of thing? The kind of place I'm thinking of is a machine shop that will accept dxf computer files of whatever pattern you'd like cut and they just ask you what type of wood and thickness you'd...

    Decent plunge router advice

Thanks very much for your reply big-all. Looking at the router on that site, many come in 240v and 110v versions. Why would this be the case? I only ask because I might take this router overseas (europe) so I'm wondering whether a 110v version would be the one to go for?

    Decent plunge router advice

I'm going to attempt building some bookcases and shelving soon and I think a router will be very useful for this. From my research a plunge router gives the best flexability but they also seem quite expensive? Could anyone suggest to me some good makes and models that would be around the 100...

    Painting some old wooden chairs.

Thanks again for the reply. So should I thin down the primer/undercoat or the paint itself? Or both?

    Painting some old wooden chairs.

Thanks for the reply joe-90. Sorry if this sounds daft but what should I thin the primer down with? And why is this needed? Why isn't it set to the right consistancy in the first place to prevent brush marks?

    Painting some old wooden chairs.

I've stripped and sanded down a couple of old wooden chairs which have been handed down to us and the time has almost come for us to paint them. Could someone tell me if I need to use a primer + undercoat + final coat or if I can miss one of the stages? Opinion seems to be divided on this...

Can Schuko plugs be wired to UK bought electrical items?

Thanks for all the replies guys. From the looks of it, changing the plugs to schuko ones will be ok then. Can anyone tell me where I can buy wireable schuko plugs? The ones I see are always moulded ones. :?

Can Schuko plugs be wired to UK bought electrical items?

A relative in Norway has a lot of electrical items which have been bought in the UK. Since moving back to Norway they now have to contend with having loads of (UK to Euro) adaptors. Is it possible (and safe!) to buy euro/schuko plugs and wire them to the appliances?
