    Architrave and adjustments

Many thanks for this. I am planning to have different and wider architraves, instead of the ones that are there. I guess those diagonals don't need to be too precise as there is plenty on the header plate to fix that section of the architrave too? Once I have removed the section above this, is...

    Plastering trowel

I want to give plastering a go for the first time. I am planning on using multi finish. I have one of these but wanted to check if it’s good enough or whether it will make this a frustrating experience. I can see that trowels go up to £80 but trying to strike the right balance, given that it’s...

    Makita Radio

I now have no buttons having any effect. When I remove the battery, it states power failure, even though it has a new set of AA batteries. Also the main knob seems to feel very sturdy and nothing like the loose one in that video.

    Architrave and adjustments

I have added some extra lights in the landing. Light will not be an issue. Can I carefully remove the glass and then use a recip saw to cut here (black lines): I can then build a frame for some plasterboard above this? I assume this isn’t holding any structure above it or load-bearing in any...

    Makita Radio

This radio is playing up. It’s either unresponsive or toggles through random settings such as the time. The “source” button is not having any effect. I tried two Makita batteries without any success. I also replaced the AA batteries. I would welcome any suggestions. Thanks

    Architrave and adjustments

I want to amend these door frames and get rid of the top section. I want the architrave just above the door. Can you please suggest how I blend the top into the wall and fit my new architrave just above the door, like they are with most doors. Thanks in advance.

    Removing painted paper

Having a real tough time with this one and reaching out for help. I’ve used hot water with fabric softener. Also used a spiked roller. This small section has taken me over an hour. I have four walls to do… Thanks in advance.

    speedy painting

I've always used these types of sets for painting and its been a long and laborious process... Especially when cleaning is required at the end of a day and use on the next day. I've seen videos on YT where the fly through painting a wall or a ceiling. I am sure you know the sort of...

    Replacing a LED light

sorry @AndyPRK, I just added the info on the cut out size differences. Do you think that will be okay or are they so precise?

    Replacing a LED light

Do you guys have a go-to GU-10 downlight? I've heard good things about this one and interested in your views: https://www.electricpoint.com/jcc-jc010016-wh-fireguard-next-generation-downlight-white-ip65.html Also, the enlite has a 70mm cut out and the JCC has a 74mm. Will that be okay? Happy...

    Kitchen - refacing doors

Got a 15 year old kitchen that I am wanting to refresh. I've read about the above and wondering if it works and how practical it is? Is it as simple as unscrewing and screwing on a bunch of new doors and drawer fronts. Job done. I like the idea as the flooring and wall tiles aren't damaged in...

    Replace tap cylinder

I think that requires the lever to be unscrewed first? There is no grab screw visible at the moment.

    Replacing a LED light

For what it's worth, all my downlights are cool white. They are definitely not a yellow light.

    Replace tap cylinder

I don't see a grub screw but the duct tape will be much better than my cloth approach as that kept slipping! Will do that and I am sure it will shift. Does wd40 have a role here?

    Replacing a LED light

I get that but it seems a shame to change the other 3 working lights. Perhaps I should bite the bullet and just buy the more expensive replacement but at least it's the same light.

    Replace tap cylinder

I've purchased replacement cyclinders from Bristan and the instructions suggest that the levers need to be removed but doesn't explain how! I assume they need to be turned as they have a screw fitting. Except, the limescale, etc. is making this an impossible task at the moment. I've tried a...

    Replacing a LED light

I’ve got tonnes of these throughout the house. It would be a mammoth project to replace all of them… Can I not replace this with another brand? I can still get the same but it seems quite expensive.
