Thanks for the replies :wink: Phoned the DNO today who said the incoming tails are on a "wall loop" from next door but they couldnt give me a definate answer about the Main Earth. They have said I should put an Earthrod in & make it a TT but I am still unsure how this 6mm wire is connected...

There wasnt any main bonding. I'm adding a cooker circuit so I'll make sure everythings up to spec. Do you think its worth giving the DNO a ring anyway ? Thinking about it, If this is a TT, the CU is an old MEMERA with rewireable fuses :?

All I can see is 2 black wires (16mm) coming out the wall in metal conduit, the Live goes into the main fuse & then to the meter in 25mm. The N goes to a henly block & then to the meter in 25mm. Both then go to the CU There are no earth wires attached anywhere, except for this 6mm in the CU...

Its end terraced. Meter at ground floor level, about a metre from the floor. Not sure about DNO providing PME. I'll have to ring them in the morning Thanks

Do you think if I fitted a Split load board & put the upstairs lights including bathroom lights on an RCBO & the shower on the RCD side it would be ok not to carry out supp bonding ?, just a thought ? :?

Sorry about another supp bonding question, but is there a reg to say you have to install supp bonding when changing the cu to the 16th? I have been doing it but just looking at a job that could be very difficult All other bonds up to spec

Well.............. I still dont know This is a good example of people not regarding a fault as serious. Because its been working for the last 15 years they think its ok. I had a phonecall at 7.45 this morning & was told not to come today.

Just before I left tonight I was looking around the kitchen cupboards & noticed a piece of wood which looked like the back of the cupboard. neutral in correct bar, i double checked If it was a borrowed neutral, I guess I would dissconnect all the neutrals & connect the problem circuit only to see if it tripped the RCD ?

Changed a CU today. Switched it back on & the RCD tripped when I reset one of the Ring CB's :evil: . I admit I only did a r1,r2,rn test (0.50, 1.48, 0.52) & an IR test (P+N joined & tested across to CPC). on this circuit (& the others). I know I should have done a proper PIR, but this time...
