    Cellar conversion

Cheers, The risk I can see is if test pits need to show the bottom of the wall, they could up being 2m deep and would have to pretty much remove the 7tn of soil to be able to get in to see it. Trying to understand if there’s any other way to test the theory. Def in people- would always get...

    Liquid Dpm over concrete/bitumen

Looking lay a liquid dpm in the cellar floor followed by a self levelling compound as it uneven. Old coal cellar, half is decent concrete but the other half has a bitumen type coating already. Any recommendation on products to use- most I've found say only suitable for concrete, I've only...

Lack of hot water from shower

Cheers, not sure if mixer passing is the problem, I've isolated the hot water, then turned them on full and no sign of cold water passing through. I've already got the flow restrictor that came with the shower in place but still have the problem

Lack of hot water from shower

I have a 1yr old Mira mixer shower and combo boiler. All taps work fine and have hot water flowing as long as I only open them half way. Open them any more and it's tepid at best, but the shower barely gets warm at all, I may get a short burst of hot water for a second then goes Luke warm. Any...

New slab for a garage being layed. 19x19ft slab, 5inch thick around the outside 3ft all round, then 2inch sitting on top the old slab in the middle. Any recommendations on the type of reinforcement? Steel grid or fibres mixed with the concrete? Pre fab garage sat on top of it. Thanks in advance

    Laying garage slab

Laying a new garage slab, plan was 5" hardcore with 5" concrete. Problem is now the old garage has been removed I can see the true extent of the slope it's on. One side is fine but on the edge next to my property boundary the ground level is already 9" below the finished level. What's the best...

changes to socket- is this notifyable work?

I was surprised, it's a Bosch aqua star 6l, first time I've seen a detachable cable. im only trying to steer away from moving the socket as it means bringing the cable out of the end of the units which means having a visible hole in the end big enough to get a plug through

changes to socket- is this notifyable work?

True, and I wouldn't consider that normally except in this case the cable also has a plug into the dishwasher so it's easier enough to unplug and pull out of needed.

changes to socket- is this notifyable work?

Cheers guys, Yes in the UK Yes it's up to current regs- complete rewrite only finished and signed off a month ago. Just checked and the switch above the worktop isn't fused- pic below, would this need changing to a fused switch also? I'm not sure if the rating on this one

changes to socket- is this notifyable work?

recently had all the electrics replaced but found that where the socket has been fitted for the dishwasher its stopping it fitting under the unit correctly. current set up is standard single gang socket underneath the worktop with a fused switch above the worktop (to be able to switch it off...

    Plumbers done a runner!

He hasn't suggested anything, since early jan ive been trying to get hold of him but according to his lad because of his circumstances I shouldn't expect a response any time soon- I have no idea what's happened only that it's something personal. But your right, he's not done a runner exactly...
