Replacing existing Honeywell wired thermostat and hot water (Y plan) with Heatmiser smart control and possible wireless thermostat

Thankyou very much for your kind response. It does give me confidence to order the product and go with the installation. I suppose the old thermostat (set to highest temperature) will be overridden with whatever the wireless thermostat will tell the controller. So if timer is on and wireless...

Replacing existing Honeywell wired thermostat and hot water (Y plan) with Heatmiser smart control and possible wireless thermostat

Thank you very much for your quick and detailed response. It looks like the old controller doesn't have earth coming in so hopefully that's not a problem? I'll put brown or red tape on the green yellow cable to mark it appropriately. Anyhow, during renovation, all this will be replaced so...

Replacing existing Honeywell wired thermostat and hot water (Y plan) with Heatmiser smart control and possible wireless thermostat

Just read your reply after posting mine. I am happy to leave old thermostat with turned to max settings. Attached is the picture of existing controller and neoHub Hw mini diagram. I have Y plan though instead of S plan shown in the neohub diagram but guess it won't make a difference.

Replacing existing Honeywell wired thermostat and hot water (Y plan) with Heatmiser smart control and possible wireless thermostat

I think you are right. Looking again at the product compatibility, both are actually wireless thermostats. I don't know why they have Slimline RF wireless and NeoAir wireless thermostats.. can't understand the difference other then the compatibility.. they have so many products to choose from...

Replacing existing Honeywell wired thermostat and hot water (Y plan) with Heatmiser smart control and possible wireless thermostat

Oh is it. I thought option 2 is wired thermostat which talks to RF controller wirelessly. I am not newby with diy or electric as such but never fiddled with 10way junction or CH electrical. Is there some sort of info that can precisely tell me which wires to alter as I can't see enough info...

Replacing existing Honeywell wired thermostat and hot water (Y plan) with Heatmiser smart control and possible wireless thermostat

Hi, I have a Honeywell timer and room thermostat with one zone for CH and one for HW under Y plan mid position valve. I am looking to replace it with Heatmiser control so that I can control the heating and hot water remotely and use the geo location feature that turns off CH if no one is...

How to reset the alarm without knowing any code or info about it

Hi, We moved into a new home where there's already a security alarm installed. However the previous owner had died and there's no info whatsoever regarding the alarm so wondering how can we reset the code to make it work again. Attached are the two pictures of the alarm. I cannot see any other...

How to fill inhibitor where no valve on top of radiators and magnaflow filter cannot be opened. Sealed unvented central heating system

How much inhibitor will be needed for 3br bungalow when whole pipe work is drained 3 times meaning not much inhibitor left in the system? The sentinel 100 rapid dose is costing £25 for 300ml whereas a standard 1L bottle is just for £15. So if I need at least a litre in it, I'd be looking £75...

How to fill inhibitor where no valve on top of radiators and magnaflow filter cannot be opened. Sealed unvented central heating system

Any reason why would there be pressure in the rad if both valves are closed and some water is taken out of rad by temporarily loosening the valve nut to drain a litre of water?

How to fill inhibitor where no valve on top of radiators and magnaflow filter cannot be opened. Sealed unvented central heating system

When plumber opened it last time to clean, rubber was found broken and it started dripping so he used PTFE and jointing compound to seal it since he couldn't find seal locally and can't wait for 2-3 days for it to arrive online. He told me that it cannot be opened now because we'd be replacing...

How to fill inhibitor where no valve on top of radiators and magnaflow filter cannot be opened. Sealed unvented central heating system

Thank you all for the useful replies. I'll use the Rapid dose after draining the radiator a bit to allow enough inhibitor in. It's slightly more expensive but given only to be done once in a while, it's less fiddly than other useful methods like syringe and tube etc.

How to fill inhibitor where no valve on top of radiators and magnaflow filter cannot be opened. Sealed unvented central heating system

Forgot to say it's a sealed unvented central heating system with no f&e tank. It has red expansion vessel.

How to fill inhibitor where no valve on top of radiators and magnaflow filter cannot be opened. Sealed unvented central heating system

Hi, I have old style radiators where there only a small bleeding nut on top of radiators and the bathroom doesn't have towel rails either. The magnaflow filter is sealed with jointing compound to avoid leak from the sealing rubber so I can't open it without replacing the whole unit Attached is...

Vaillant echo tech plus 418 short cycling on hot water but OK for central heating. Best recommended settings

Cylinder is set to 55c at the moment but I have tried 50-60c as well. The flow temperature on the boiler is set to 65c. The thermostat on the cylinder is quite old style so not sure how can I confirm if water temperature is reached to the desired level in the cylinder. But water in tap is...

Vaillant echo tech plus 418 short cycling on hot water but OK for central heating. Best recommended settings

Thanks guys for the replies. From the conversation above, it looks like there's no obvious reason for it to short cycle that can be quickly diagnosed and fixed as such. Given that boiler, cylinder and heating system would be upgraded next year during renovation / extension, wondering is that OK...

Vaillant echo tech plus 418 short cycling on hot water but OK for central heating. Best recommended settings

wow.. that's getting way too technical :) Attached is the picture of 3port valve and irrespective there's a hot water is on or off, the small lever on the valve can freely move between the two red lines marked on the picture. Could this be the contributing factor for short cycling? Just to be...

Vaillant echo tech plus 418 short cycling on hot water but OK for central heating. Best recommended settings

Could this be related to the 3 port valve by any chance? My system is in Y plan and what I noticed is when only HW demand is on, around 1m length of heating pipe becomes hot too but further I touch the heating pipe, it start feeling colder so that shows 3 port valve is pushing water towards the...

Vaillant echo tech plus 418 short cycling on hot water but OK for central heating. Best recommended settings

when HW is on, do you see a flashing radiator symbol but the constant on Tap symbol on the screen? This is what I see on my system when it goes in the anti cycling mode. The tap symbol always stays on. If I change the max output to 12kw (if I know how to do it) and the pump mode from 3 to 1...

Vaillant echo tech plus 418 short cycling on hot water but OK for central heating. Best recommended settings

Thanks for your reply and confirming that the flow temperature for HW should be more than the cylinder thermostat so the settings as of now looks correct. On the short cycling note, given that boiler doesn't do short cycling when CH is on, does that mean issue with oversized boiler, blocked flue...

Vaillant echo tech plus 418 short cycling on hot water but OK for central heating. Best recommended settings

Hi I have moved to a different home which has Vaillant Echo tech plus 418 boiler installed with open vented cylinder and a central heating system. The thermostat on the cylinder is set to 60C and the boiler has two radial dials in front to control the flow temperature, both of which are set to...
