    cheap block paving blocks needed

If you're not too bothered about them not being new then check out eBay and pick up a few lots of spares people are flogging.

    Our extractor fan blew

Might help if you post photos of the bathroom, or at least a layout diagram?

    Switch no longer used

That's an interesting option - hadn't thought of that. :)

    Switch no longer used

Don't have a multimeter but neighbour is a spark and no doubt would let me borrow one and might even assist. Thanks for your help.

    Switch no longer used

Yeah it's at skirting level and yes it's on the socket circuit. Will it be obvious behind the socket then?

    Switch no longer used

When we moved into our house there was an outdoor light at the back of the property that was operated by a switch in the bedroom upstairs (very strange arrangement if you ask me!). When we had the house re-dashed, the dashers removed the light fitting as we were having a more sensible one...

    Slug slime

Might just as well fill them with silicone anyhow, surely?

    Slug slime

MrsP won't have that. She doesn't want dead ones under the floor. The fact that they'll die there anyway doesn't wash sadly. We recently had the floor up and I wanted to fill the cavity with slug pellets but she wasn't having any of it.

    Slug slime

Wait for it to dry and brush it off. We have a nightmare with slugs in our house. They are breeding in the cavity under the floor and come through nooks and crannies into the house each night and leave their trail everywhere. Slowly identifying the cracks they are getting through and filling...

Repurposing double glazing in the garage

Thanks for all the help with this. I finally got round to getting this sorted at the weekend. Needed a dry day with nothing else happening so that I could get it all done in a day (already had the frame itself constructed). Ripped out the old frame and glad I did because a good chunk of it...

    Power Devil Angle Grinder

Thanks for clarifying :) I have no intention of doing anything silly. :) And my wife certainly has no intention of letting me get close to doing something silly!! :)

    Power Devil Angle Grinder

Thanks HH1. I've got the "C" spanner and it looks like there's a button to lock it. That makes sense. Which particular statements are worrying? I'm aware it's a lethal machine. That's why I'm posting up here for help before even attempting to use the tool.

    Power Devil Angle Grinder

Thanks wotan - good common sense stuff :) I was thinking more along the lines of how to change the discs and what discs I need to buy?

    Power Devil Angle Grinder

I've been given a Power Devil Angle Grinder and was wondering if anyone knew of a place I can get a manual for it? Or are these sorts of tools fairly standard across the board? I've never used one before you see :)

    removing tree, chance of subsidence?

Get your hands on a mattock if you can, and if that's not possible a small hand axe will be very useful for cutting through roots below the ground.

    removing tree, chance of subsidence?

Famous last words!! ;) Reckon it'll be a hefty job, but well worth it. I personally wouldn't worry in the slightest about the subsidence issue, and there's no way any remaining roots will regrow at a later stage. Get rid of the stump and the roots around the immediate area of the stump, fill in...

    Fitting a Belfast

Did you get the worktop from B&Q also? We've just done a our kitchen and found a local independent supplier of worktops could supply far superior worktops at a fraction of the price. It may be worth getting the yellow pages out and seeing if there's one in the area. The beauty of that is that...
