Electric boilers (non combi)--anyone had one fitted?

Woodburner/multi fuel stove is a great idea, I have one and it kicks out loads of heat, I also have an open coal fire in another room and it's nowhere near as good at heating the room. Unless you have a very small oil tank you want to be getting deliveries of 1000 lts+, current prices you...

Electric boilers (non combi)--anyone had one fitted?

Chat with your oil suppliers regarding the replacement tank, mine agreed to buy the new tank and spread the cost over 3 years with a single £50 charge i.e. no credit charges to speak of. They gave me a list of preferred tank installers but allowed me to choose my own as I wanted a decent quality...

    New Oil Boiler time?

I'm just about to start an extension on my house and as I will need to re-locate my current boiler, I wonder if it may just better to replace with a new one. It's a 3 bed semi of approx. 2000 sq ft and the boiler is a 15-20 year old Worcester Bosch 12/14 running 14 rads. The boiler has just been...

    Tyrolean - Poor quality job

yes still here watching several threads with interest :D Had a local company come out and priced me to remove all the loose render, patch up and then coat with Jubisol. Price was just shy of £7K and came with a 15 year guarantee. I liked what the guy had to say and as he dealt with several...

help plz hanging a rad on a really nice wall

I'd use toggle type fittings if you can, much stronger than standard plasterboard fittings. http://www.screwfix.com/prods/38860/Fixings/Cavity-Fixings/Fischer-Spring-Toggle-5-x-50mm-Pack-of-20

    Steel Oil Tanks

A popular misconception is that tanks have to be bunded, under 3500 lts they don't have to be unless building regs stipulate otherwise (i.e. within X distance of a non fire-rated building etc) for more info: http://www.oftec.org/documents/EG_dom_oil_storage_aw.pdf

    Steel Oil Tanks

That's what I thought when I was buying one, however it's guaranteed for 10 years and if one skin on a bunded tank fails you have to replace it anyway so went for the much cheaper single skin in the end!!

    Steel Oil Tanks

Just fitted a Fuelproof one myself and very happy with it, you could try http://www.wilestanks.co.uk as they don't appear to be far away from you.

Boiler repair quote seems a bit steep

Actually, I said I've only had one quote and was conscious that getting 2 more plumbers out would be wasting peoples valuable time hence asking the original question if the quote was reasonable or not!!

Boiler repair quote seems a bit steep

OK I'll take that onboard, I did think that describing the parts required and boiler model would help me get an indication of price however if it came across that I was just whingeing about the price I can accept that it might upset people, it was a genuine query though that's all.

Boiler repair quote seems a bit steep

Did I ever say I was looking for a price comparison......NO I posted a genuine question looking for sensible replies which, to be fair, most of them were. It's a plumbing forum where people come to get advice, which in this case I think I did in a reasonable fashion. This time of year it's...

Boiler repair quote seems a bit steep

Just been at my father-in-laws and they have a problem with their BAXI 105E combi boiler. The diagnosis by a local plumber is a faulty diverter valve and pressure vessel diaphragm but the quote to do the work is £610 inc VAT which sounds like an awful lot of money. I'm no plumber but this does...

    Kerosine stolen from outside tank.

Just fitted a Fuelproof steel tank for exactly this reason, the lockable lid will be extremely difficult, if not impossible for anyone to get to if they want to cut the lock, I guess they could try and pick the padlock but it wouldn't be easy at all...

    Jubosil?

I'm still none the wiser then. Sounds like it might be OK for what I need though, decisions.... decisions :?

    Jubosil?

afraid so :( To be honest it was the best quote at the time and included a separate garage and small outbuilding. I live just outside Harrogate and we seem to pay more for everything over here as builders/tradesmen presume we're all loaded. Any comments on the Jubosil?

    Jubosil?

Anyone used this stuff and is it any good? My house rendering is blown in a few areas and I've had a quote to hack off the loose patches of tyrolene and make good with HP Polymer mortar then have 2 coats of Jubosil on top. I'm told that is will be colour fast and waterproof for 15 years. The...
