    Response Globalguard Review

What are the main differences between Powermax and Powermaster range? My requirements apart from standard stuff are as follows: At least 2 zones + garage (not attached to the house) monitoring. Voice alert and smartphone arm/disarm functionality. IP cam monitoring from smartphone and...

    Response Globalguard Review

Matt what you didn't like about Globalguard? I'm pretty much 50/50 between this one and Visonic Powermaster. You've recommended Powermax. Which one is better between Powermaster and Powermax? Would I be able to install one of these myself? In the past I've setup Yell and Response wireless alarm...

    Wireless Alarm Recommendation

Thanks for all the replies. I got some really useful information. But guys I still don't know what to go for. If it helps my budget is £500! I need minimum 4 PIR senors, 2 window/door sensors and an IP camera connected to the alarm system. In my previous house I had installed a wireless Yale...

    Wireless Alarm Recommendation

I'm thinking of installing a wireless burglar alarm in the house. It has to be wireless because we've recently decorated the house so wired one is a no no. I've done research (with my limited knowledge) and I can't decided between Visonic Powermaster-10 G2 and Response GlobalGuard. I've got a...

Need to replace faulty Honeywell ST9400C

Thanks for your replies everyone. Mine is 1116 which means its part of that dodgy batch. I've contacted two plumbers and both have spoken highly of Honeywell programmers so I guess I was just unlucky to have the one from the dodgy batch. I'll contact Honeywell on Monday and would take it from...

Need to replace faulty Honeywell ST9400C

I've just purchased Drayton LP722 which had good reviews. I haven't installed it yet. I had contacted Honeywell with regards to support and they asked me to provide them some information including the recipet but I can't find the receipt and it was bought sometime in August 2011. Do you think...

Need to replace faulty Honeywell ST9400C

I've got a Honeywell ST9400C programmer which is less than 2 years old and it has been playing up for a while. But now it seems like it just won't send signal to boiler to switch on hot water. So I guess I need to replace it. I've read mixed reviews of this programmer so I'm thinking of getting...

Do not buy from Vaillant if you would like any after sales

I had to call them twice in last two years. On both occasions I got through fairly quickly to their customer service. On both occasions engineer was arranged with 3/4 days. They turned up professionally as expected, on time. First time round it was a leakage issue which wasn't from the boiler...

Metal or wood gate for my driveway

Thanks for your replies guys. I'm miles away from coastal so rusting won't be a big issue. There's no way I can fit a single gate. It'll have to be 2 gates. Sliding isn't an option either because I haven't got enough space on both sides. As I've got those brick pillar already in place, I'm...

Metal or wood gate for my driveway

Anyone got any experience with metal framed PVC gates? If so pleas let me know how good they're as far as longevity is concerned and how do they fare on the costs side? Thanks

Metal or wood gate for my driveway

Thanks for your informative responses. I'm thinking of going for a metal framed gate with PVC sheets which give the effect of wood. I'm hoping this won't be too expensive and would last for quite some time?

Metal or wood gate for my driveway

I've seen some gate companies selling metal framed gates with UPVC which has wood affect. They look good. How durable are those and how expensive are they?

Metal or wood gate for my driveway

I'm thinking of getting a gate in place in my driveway for security and to make sure my son doesn't go out when he's playing outside. I can't decide whether I should go for wood or metal. Here's what I want from the gate in this order: 1. Security and privacy 2. Long-lasting 3. Nothing too...

How to remove some roof tiles

There is but its pain to access. I think I'll take that route because I'm not willing to risk either leakage or decorating the indoors. I've got quite a few spot lights and I'm thinking of covering them with flower pots (as I've read it works out fairly well on few forums) to make sure...

How to remove some roof tiles

Oh, is it? I think I won't be touching the inside because its all nicely decorated plus got quite a few spotlights. :(

How to remove some roof tiles

I've got a studio flat on the ground floor in my house and its really cold during winters. 3 walls are exposed and part of the roof is exposed too. Its got wood floor which doesn't help the cause either. Luckily walls are properly insulated but roof isn't. I've got some insulation in the loft...

    Strange toilet blockage issue

Hugh and Nigel thanks for your responses. Good news is TW turned up yesterday and fixed the issue. Now they're going to do a video survey "free of charge" to work out the cause of the blockage and they also want to know if other properties are linked with this drainage. I'm hoping they come and...

    Strange toilet blockage issue

Thanks Nigel. You've got a point. They came and fixed it without a fuss so you're right it must be there responsibility. If and when it happens again, I'll call them and hopefully sooner rather than later they'll dig it up and fix it for good. :)

    Strange toilet blockage issue

dal5band thanks for your response. Its really appreciated. I moved in this house last year in August and the first blockage was experienced in April/May time. But now we had a second blockage. As far as I know nothing as change with regards to usage. Could it be roots of nearby trees causing...
