Evening out colour on Linseed oiled Walnut work surface

Hi folks, We kept a washing up brush pot on our walnut kitchen work surface for way too long and black mould set in. I planed and sanded it down and thought I'd got rid of it but when I re-oiled the section it came out way darker than the rest of the surface. I thought the mould had gone...

Finding an oven that will fit an existing gap

Hi there, I thought the builders had made a custom size and not actually used a standard cabinet. But I see your point, especially since there is a Ikea drawer below the oven. It really should be a standard size shouldn't it? I will take another look with this in mind when I get home, and see...

Finding an oven that will fit an existing gap

Hi folks, I'd like to replace an Ikea/Whirlwind single electric oven. The width of the front is about 60cm but this is just the front panel and overlaps the frame of the supporting kitchen cabinet. The body of the oven is smaller, just 54cm wide. I guess this is a usual thing for single...

Sticking aesthetic tiles to pebble dash

Hi folks, We have some lovely hand painted tiles left over from our kitchen. We thought we might stick 2 or 3 randomly on our back wall in the garden. Just spaced out as a purely aesthetic thing. What's the best thing to stick them to a pebble dash wall do you think? Cheers

    Need advice on bathroom layout

Hi guys, Freddy, you may have a point there. No-one else has mentioned that a freestanding bath is not appropriate for a small bathroom. I'm happy with the cleaning aspect etc. But I will mention your point and see what the guys say. Gerald, ha ha... :) all coincidental I assure you... We all...

    Need advice on bathroom layout

I thought finding a shower with the door on the 90 cm side would help. But I just can't find one. Another idea is to tilt the bath so bottom edge is against the wall. This would help hugely. Do you think a free standing bath would look ok tilted at an angle in a small room?

    Need advice on bathroom layout

:) that's the very one I'm thinking of as a fall back plan. shorter but I don't like it as much. I've found others that are nice and a bit smaller than my 1st choice, but that Lisbon is the smallest I've seen.

    Need advice on bathroom layout

Thanks SFK, paper cutouts is a great idea. I agree, I am thinking the main concern is that shower entrance. I don't really like curved showers, if anything I would go for a smaller bath ( I have found one but it's not as nice it's about 15 cm shorter) or use a 80 cm wide shower. But the...

    Need advice on bathroom layout

Hi, thanks for your response. I can imagine cleaning the floor behind the bathroom may need a very narrow mop or something, but I can't see that cleaning the outside of the shower or bath should be too much of an issue. I guess my main worry now is whether the bath will look too close to the...

    Need advice on bathroom layout

Hi folks, We are going to have a new bathroom fitted. I've never planned a bathroom before and I'd really appreciate some layout and sizing tips. I've done some measuring and here is the bathroom as it is now: The rectangle at the bottom is our shower and the bath is the narrower rectangle...

    Quotes for completely new bathroom.

Thanks, but how do I know I could trust their recommendation? Surely they would have friends in the business. Good or bad they would feel obliged to recommend them I would've thought. Maybe not? I'm waiting to hear from a neighbour's friend... but it's a bit of a friend of a friend of a...

    Quotes for completely new bathroom.

Hi there, I live in London and have used mybuilder.com to find a builder to put a whole new bathroom in. This includes floor tiles, plumbing, wall tiles, all the fixtures and fittings and decorating. I saw 4 people and most quoted £2,500 for labour and building materials. The last guy...
