Thanks r896neo, yes you have it right with the water half or some way up the back side of the blocks. Ideally I'd love to finish the top of the blocks with something more decorative as you'll see the mortar joint... no idea what though! Cheers

Hi When combining thinner mosaics as borders or accent tiles with main tiles, is there a trade secret to packing out the thickness of the mosaic tiles or do you simply have to use same thickness tiles?

I have to repair a small area of mosaic tiles in a shower. The tile grout I have is 8 or years old, however perfectly powdery, no lumps etc. It says shelf life is 12 months!... does this mean even if appears useable I'm best not to? ie. do the adhesion or waterproofing properties weaken?
