    combining waste

Not best practice but yes you can. Anti Vac traps may not be needed but no problem fitting them. If I ever drop a basin waste into the bath waste pipe, I put a none return valve in just before the Tee, that way nothing will come up the bath from draining the basin.

    Cloakroom toilet and sink replace

Everyone has their own way of doing things, but I replace toilets on those collars on a weekly basis. I remove toilet, pull out 90 degree pan connecter, and smash the collar off from the inside outwards. This will reveal the drain in the floor. I then stick a Multikwik extension into the...

    help please with leaking tap

One or both washers will need replacing (may as well do both), if you're wanting it off until it's fixed, have a look for isolation valves underneath.

    Bay Window Question

We have an old wooden bay window that we are looking to replace on the ground floor front of house. The brickwork is just a flat wall but the bay looks as thought it is stuck on the front of the house, with 2 wooden brackets underneath and a flat roof. If I were to have this changed to PVC...

Hi eveares, the primary circuit is connected to the expansion vessel. Generally CH systems are topped up to 1.5bar cold, unless stated otherwise in MI. Can't comment on the hot water tap running. The valve in your picture is a combination valve that does many things, one thing it can't...

Boiler coming on and going off all the time

Boiler is a Biasi Riva Compact M90e 24s The problem is the boiler fires up and goes off whenever it likes and does this continuously, even when the thermostat isn't calling for heat. When the CH is on the boiler will fire up and after a few minutes it will turn itself off, re-fire, turn off...

    Where do I start?

My mum owns a rather big garden, would it be possible to erect a fence halfway down and build a house/bungalow, with the driveway opening to the other side (private road). Who owns those unkept roads, is it the people who live on them? What sort of planning permission would I need? I've...

Just been to take a look at my uncles boiler which isn't giving him any hot water. Boiler is a Vailiant Turbomax. Upon turning on the hot tap, the diverter valve doesn't make the switch, nothing moves, nothing happens. I then turned on the hot tap and manually pushed the switch down...

quick question about these air vents (pics inside)

Does that mean if you see a vent with closeable louvres, does this automatically mean it's not for a gas appliance? What about air vents without ducting through the cavity, they mustn't be for gas appliances either? What if it customer has wallpapered over their vent, must mean it wasn't...
