Will my wall be strong enough?!

See, told you I was glad I found this site! The Mods should be happy as I have just saved them some bandwidth by not having to put a new topic on in a few weeks time entitled 'Why won't my travertine wall tiles stay stuck to my wall'! Thanks again.

    Wet kitchen worktop problems

Why waste money on a dishwasher when he already has one? Surely a tin of varnish and a quick admonishment would be cheaper!

Will my wall be strong enough?!

Thanks guys. Just to clarify again Moz, seal ALL sides and edges before fixing, or just the fronts/ edges? Also looking ahead, Dow Corning seems to be a silicone that is often mentioned on these pages. What would you recommend for floor/ wall tile joints, wall tile to ceiling (painted with...

    whirlpool awo3671 door not locking

My washing machine will not start as the door is not locking. The door locked light does not come on and hence the cycle will not start and the door is indeed able to be opened. I presume there is some kind solenoid that has failed? Any help appreciated.

Will my wall be strong enough?!

Thanks Jason. And for Moz, do you seal both sides of the stone and all edges before fixing, or just the edges and the front?

Just weighed the tiles and they are a fraction under 30kg per square metre.

Will my wall be strong enough?!

Thanks for the advice thus far guys. Wedi board is 100% water impregnable and all joints will be tanked using their tanking tape and flexible waterproof adhesive. I have a link to their technical data sheet, but the kg/sq. m. does not appear on it...

Will my wall be strong enough?!

Ok, here goes. My (never ending according to the wife) wetroom is coming along. I have just taken delivery this morning of my Golden Travertine wall and floor tiles, and bloody gorgeous they look too!! Wall tiles are 60 x 40, floor 40 x 40. Both sizes are 12mm thick. One of the walls I...

    Creaking stud walls

My house (circa 1990) suffers the same problem and ALL the floors are starting to creak. The floors are chipboard tongue and groove :( and have been nailed with ribbed nails. As I do each room I am lifting the floor and relaying it using Spax screws every 300mm - expensive but fantastic...

    Finish for oak washstand

Thanks for the advise guys. What's the difference between tung oil and Danish oil then, especially in terms of colour?

    LCD tv wall fixing

Bambi Intersting opinion about LCD over plasma. I'm not really that 'techno' savvy and just go on what I see and I must say I still think my Cathode Ray Tube Thomson has a better picture than anything I see in Currys! Perhaps you could explain the reasons? Is it just the industry...

Where to get an aluminium extrusion for a shower panel?

Thanks for the reply Jason. I see Prefit have many other options for holding the panel. In your experience, would something like the 90 degree wall mounts be sufficient to hold the weight and would I still need a channel on the floor, or could the panel just be siliconed to the floor tiles? I...

Where to get an aluminium extrusion for a shower panel?

Looking for anyone who can advise me where I can get an anodised aluminium 'U' section extrusion to support a 10mm toughened glass shower panel? This is what it looks like http://www.sws-glasbaubeschlaege.de/en/profiles/index.html The company that supply the channels shown...

    Finish for oak washstand

I am getting an oak washstand made for my bathroom project as it is much cheaper than buying a ready made one from a bathroom supplier (about £500 cheaper!!). The only thing is that the guy making it is leaving it unfinished. I am going to use Danish Oil and would like some advice on the...

How do I install a wall mounted basin mixer?

Thanks for your replies guys, very helpful. I hadn't thought of fitting it within expandable foam, I can see that that would work as I have used the stuff before and it does hold pretty well. Tickly T, I was thinking exactly the same as you; a noggin with the three holes drilled out, then...

How do I install a wall mounted basin mixer?

Yeah, very clever. My question is not which bit is which, but HOW do I install the manifold. Can it just 'sit' on the supply pipes, or does it need attaching to a stud/ noggin and if so how would this be done as it has no lugs or mountings.

How do I install a wall mounted basin mixer?

Just bought a Cifial Techno 300 Wall Mounted Basin Mixer, without back plate, for by bathroom. Just looking at how to mount it in the wall, as it comes with no instructions. The brass 'workings' with the 3 chrome cylinders (hot and cold taps and the spout mount) which poke through the wall...
