FYI the 330+ is actually a Glowworm Flexicom with a Ultracom type display panel. Flexicom is a decent boiler but obviously cheaper than a Vaillant. 37kw sounds way over the top for your needs. Oversizing boilers is bad for efficiency.....that said both quotes seem very reasonable.

are you sure the pipework will be installed above ground from the tank? Every install I have seen or had anything to do with has had buried pipework up to the point where it meets the building. Even very short distances. If it is above ground then yes it will be in steel.

they dont always turn off, but they turn off better if the water is running as you switch it off. They always switch off to some extent though which i guess is the idea in an emergency but they are unreliable in assisting with maintenance
