Hi, The neutral should not be switched. You wont normally find a neutral behind the light switch, but there maybe a black wire (or blue wire) as a switched live feed but this should be indicated as a phase conductor.

Refers to the switching, single pole just switches live double pole switches both live and neutral

As already been mentioned an electric heat gun will restore the blackness. Its how i always restore the colour. Just keep moving to avoid any burning.

so would i run from the original feed to the first light, then from the first light to the next then so on till i reach the last one? Or do i use a junction box and wire the lights in a kind of 'star'?? I have seen it done both ways, which would be the correct and most safe way? Also...

Hi, What would be the best downlights to use in a kitchen? 230v or 12v. And how should they be wired, the room has one single light and i want to put 6 downlights in? Can the lights be taken from a central junction box from the original lighting feed?

That looks like a texecom veritas panel (Ive only used the remote keypad versions before but the keypad bit looks identical) Have you tried just reentering your user code a second time, some panels may take a second attempt to clear tamper faults.

Worked out how to reset the panel, powered down then removed the NVM chip, powered it back up and inserted the chip. Defaulted to 1234 for user and 1122 for engineer. Many thanks for all your help.

I bought the panel on ebay, its an ex ADT system, When i power it up all i get is 'Alarm in Progress' but the default codes 1234 11223344 and 54321 dont reset it so i need to factory default it to get access. I bought the system to upgrade a scantronic unit.
