Hi,

What would be the best downlights to use in a kitchen? 230v or 12v.

And how should they be wired, the room has one single light and i want to put 6 downlights in?

Can the lights be taken from a central junction box from the original lighting feed?

personal choice but id use 240v,less to go wrong, you do use the existing wiring but you need to loop between each spot from it,usually with a jb of some sort but it needs to remain accessable, the wiring may reach one of the new spots if your lucky so you could access it through a hole

so would i run from the original feed to the first light, then from the first light to the next then so on till i reach the last one?

Or do i use a junction box and wire the lights in a kind of 'star'??

I have seen it done both ways, which would be the correct and most safe way?

Also will the lights be able to be put on a dimmer switch?

problem with bringing them all back to one place is the joining,it can get fiddly and messy, best to loop in and out id say
