    Sealing Plasterboard before papering.

Zampa will thinned out vinly matt allow easy stripping of wallpaper in the future. I always thought a mist coat of emulsion was to prepare for painting.

    Sealing Plasterboard before papering.

I have read many posts on the subject of sealing new plasterboard before papering and generally it seems the best idea is to seal with an oil based sealer or undercoat. I have only found water based sealers specifically for plasterboard. This may seem like a silly question but should I be...

    Landing Radiator

Could anyone help me with this question please? I want to fit a radiator on my landing. The measurements are roughly 2.5m x 2.5m x2.5m. I have looked at some BTU calculators but they seem to be specifically for rooms. Can anyone suggest the size of radiator I should go for taking into account the...

    plasterboard as insulation

Thanks Noseall your answers are always helpful as in previous posts. Will use Kingspan. I have seen from other posts that I should use a vapour barrier when using Kingspan. Is this available at a builders merchants and how is it attached? Thanks.

    plasterboard as insulation

I have just battened out an outhouse ready for plasterboarding and was going to use inch thick kingspan in between the battens for insulation. I have got a couple of bags of drywall adhesive and loads of plasterboard offcuts from recently dot and dabbing my bathroom walls. My question is could...

    sleeve anchors and battens

Thanks for the reply Noseall. Was a bit concerned that the blocks may crumble using plugs. I have seen on a couple of threads about the sleeve anchors being designed more for blockwork. If you think plugs will be ok then it will be easier. Thanks again.

    sleeve anchors and battens

I want to fix 2x1 battens to a block wall. I have seen that sleeve anchors are probably my best bet for fixing into the block but don't want to have the hexagon heads protruding. Would I be ok to countersink the heads into the battens and tighten with a socket or are there any anchors available...

    applying drywall adhesive.

The board didnt come away. because the wall is uneven not all the dabs I had put on the wall gripped the board. I could see that by looking sideways on. I took the board down myself

    applying drywall adhesive.

Just a query about applying drywall adhesive. Tried it today for the first time. mixed correctly and applied to walls badly consequently not all dabs have gripped the board and I've had to pull it down. I have seen on all the posts that the adhesive is put onto the wall but I think it would be...

    Bosch Detectors

Does anyone have any experience with Bosch (green) detectors. Are they any good. Have also seen Stanley ones and wondered which would be the best. The only reason I ask is I had a detector years ago and it seemed to bleep at everything even though it was calibrated and I never used it.

    fitting bath

I will soon be fitting a new bath. I am plasterboarding the walls scewing the boards to battens. I will be using aquapanel around the bath and wondered the best way of securing the new bath to the wall. Is there an alternative to using the 2 brackets that come with the bath. Don't know how...

    Plasterboard battens and screws

I have stripped my bathroom back to the brick in order to plasterboard. Plasterboard delivered today and also timber battens that I thought were 2 x1's. Turns out the battens are only 2 inch x 22mm. I know it's only 3mm difference but this will mean I will have to use 32mm screws and I have seen...

Upvc door and window installation costs

Thanks for the reply. You make a good point about supplying myself and agree best not to go down that road. I only suggested it because some of the quotes I have heard about from relatives from the larger companies seem disproportionate to the cost of the materials
