Loop switchlive with permanent live on extractor

Okay, I hope I'm not going to scare anyone with my understanding. I've bought an inline extractor with timer facility BUT I don't want to use the timer (might need to in the future) option as I'm trying to use a separate PIR sensor with it instead that has a timer facility. I called Manrose...

Will two diffuser vents in the bathroom be overkill?

Useful to know, thanks. Do you think having two reduces the extraction rate for each vent?

Will two diffuser vents in the bathroom be overkill?

I'm installing an inline extractor for the bathroom and I'm wondering if it's worth putting in two diffuser vents instead of one, one above the toilet for the smells and the other above the bath shower for the steam? Is this overkill? My bathroom measures about 1.8m x 2m. Initially I was going...

Redundant bathroom air vent - To fill or not to fill?

Thanks, that's an idea. The previous owner just stuck a grille over the hole using a couple of dollops of grab adhesive so looks like I'll have to drill in the tiles unless there's some form of sealant that will secure the vent in place and make it airtight? Also, will the loss of heat and...

Redundant bathroom air vent - To fill or not to fill?

I am installing an inline extractor instead. Many times I have found big fat spiders coming out to play along with the whistling of Mr. Windy at other times. Actually, I could put a 100mm pipe in there, close the end off and fill it up with (maybe this is not necessary) expanding foam before...

Redundant bathroom air vent - To fill or not to fill?

I have a wall vent in the bathroom that I won't need anymore and I'm wondering if I should fill the hole somehow before putting either a tile or some kind of cover over it? There is a clay airbrick on the other side and the wall is double cavity. I don't have a diamond core to drill and replace...

    100mm or 102mm hole saw?

Thanks, I just checked on Toolstation as well, while their equivalent pipe isn't Manrose it does state 100mm ID and I'm assuming it's all standard to fit each other so it looks like I need a 102mm. Thanks again.

    100mm or 102mm hole saw?

I've forgotten the answer to this and misplaced my hole saw so can't check the size. If I want to put a hole in the plasterboard to fit this through (minimum play of course) then do I use a 100mm or 102mm hole saw? I know if the ID was 100mm then I'd use 102mm but it states 'channel width'...

    Clattering extractor vents

Thanks again, that looks like it'll do the job.

    Clattering extractor vents

Thanks, I thought so too but just read the reviews for it, buyers are complaining that the shutter doesn't have a spring so it makes a banging noise when windy which defeats the purpose of my issue!

Batty or feasible idea for bathroom extraction?

*** IGNORE - IDEA ABANDONED! *** Apologies if this thread is best served in another forum despite being loft related. I'm trying to get some form of electrical extraction installed in my bathroom (see other threads if interested) and to cut a long story short I think an inline extractor in the...

    Clattering extractor vents

Thanks for your reply, so is it a simple case of taking the old one off and fitting one like this or this but adding a flyscreen? Also, regarding an internal shutter, would this do and should I fit one of these in the kitchen extractor ducting as well?

    Clattering extractor vents

I already have something similar to this for my kitchen extractor. The problem is that it does clatter so when it's a bit windy. Can you recommend one that doesn't make a noise but is suitable for it? Also, I might be making another hole in the wall in the loft for an inline extractor for the...

    Which bathroom extractor fan features?

Good idea but never done that before. Do I have to access the roof on the outside? I'll check YouTube in the meantime. Thanks.

    Which bathroom extractor fan features?

Ah yes, I had already bookmarked that. Certainly more expensive but probably worth paying the premium for peace of mind. Thanks. All that's left is making sure the ducting isn't compromised through that gap.

    Which bathroom extractor fan features?

That's what I feared, I know I might be able to convert the flexible duct into a rigid rectangle one so it could pass through and the size will be the same but it's just the hassle of it and maybe having to convert it back once through. Could I cut into the joist a bit since it just sits on top...

    Which bathroom extractor fan features?

Right, I think I've got an idea on what might be best but could have a big fly in the ointment. From what I understand, inline extractors have a much faster extraction rate therefore not needed to be powered on for so long afterwards and because they're in the loft then it should be quieter...

    Which bathroom extractor fan features?

Are there any humidity Fans that are kind of dual action so they are good at getting rid of the smells too? My wife will be (relieved) pleased! A lot of information for my head to take in, that Soler & Palau Silent 100 is certainly more expensive at nearly £100 but if it does everything well and...

    Which bathroom extractor fan features?

Oh bum, replied too soon! Yes, it's coming back to me now when I first looked into this a while ago, Zone 1 = 12v! I do have access to the roof space above, trying to remember now if there was a further issue that caused me stop other than laziness. Thank you very much again, I'll digest this...
