    Boiler needs replacing after bleeding

I'm guessing that by pump overrun you mean that when the thermostat turns the boiler off, the pump keeps running ? If that's right then no, it doesn't have that facility & I have no TRV's on any of the radiators. So I'm definitely OK leaving this valve shut then ? ( Can't you tell I ain't too...

    Boiler needs replacing after bleeding

Oh great :D I hope so, coz I can't afford a new boiler yet, even though I am gonna get one fitted coz this one looks like it came out of the ark  So what is that gate valve used for exactly if you don't mind telling me ? <edit> too slow to reply again

    Boiler needs replacing after bleeding

Well, I'm gonna sound like one of the customers we come across when we repair a fault in the telephone exchange without a visit to the house. You know the one.......when you ring them up to say the fault is now OK, they say "OOOH it's fixed all by itself" The boiler has been off for...

    Boiler needs replacing after bleeding

Hi John, didn't know you frequented this area of the board :) If only I could just fit an RCBO to sort it aye  Soz m8, couldn't resist :D When I bled the radiators, they all hissed pretty loudly, then squirted water out at a fair old rate, so I suppose the F&E pipe should be OK ...

    Boiler needs replacing after bleeding

Yes Mick, the pump is working - sorry I should have mentioned. I was just looking at the pipework around the boiler. There is a pipe that goes between the feed and return pipes to the radiator with a gate valve on it that is open. I can see the pipes coming from the expansion tank as well...

    Boiler needs replacing after bleeding

Weird one this. I had noticed that the heating system was making a lot of noise this morning ( gurgling ) so I tried to bleed the radiators. Nothing appeared to happen so I thought I had better check the expansion tank. The system just heats radiators and does not supply hot water. The tank...

    Must be my Lucky Day

No, I had to do a double-take myself there  What the guy did was strip the outer sheath of the old crappy T&E to the CU and just taped over the Red/Black insulation with Blue/Brown That's what I am going to do. I will probably use the tails he has left because they're plenty long...

    Must be my Lucky Day

The RCD for the Jacuzzi was on the board & I had fitted an Earth Bar. The guy never mentioned anything about them & just did his stuff. Actually, he re-wired the old bit of 10mm Earth Wire from the old cutout to the Bar with new 16mm. He's left the old board up on the remains of the stud wall...

Possible answer to Kitchen Ring Problem ?

No, it's just the angle of the photo. Must admit it does look like that though

Possible answer to Kitchen Ring Problem ?

Good news for the Cooker Hood, not so for the Extractor :- I can't see a cable anywhere so it appears it's buried and fed directly into the fan housing. I suppose it shouldn't be too difficult to expose the feed and pull back the cable into an FCU. I'm getting the feeling that none of the...

    Must be my Lucky Day

I thought he may have changed them as well but I wasn't going to moan, he saved me about £335 by moving the board there and then. :D The phase tail is actually thicker than 25mm cable, although it's just the outer sheath because I watched him do the whole job and the actual remains of the...

Possible answer to Kitchen Ring Problem ?

As mentioned in my previous posts, I'm c/o my CU soon to a split-load board. JohnD mentioned that preferably, the Freezer ( & I presume Fridge ) ccts should be on the non-RCD side of the Load & I commented that I can get access to the socket runs in the kitchen to change them onto a separate...

    Must be my Lucky Day

About 3-1/2 weeks Hour an half or so Not really coz the original phone call was just to ask them to replace the "Green thing at the bottom of my meter that's leaking a load of black goo" I tried to get in touch with them to ask them to fit an isolator switch and also to upgrade the...

    Must be my Lucky Day

Well, the dno jointer turned up, on time as well. I asked him a few questions re: Isolator Switch, increasing the Main Fuse size & also possibly moving the Meter. The result ? From this :- To this :- Reasonably neat job 'n' all. I can now get onto the LABC to sort out the...

Fitting Isolator Switch between Meter & CU

Hmmm, not much chance there then  I'll post some before and after pictures so you guys can have a laugh at what he's done  ( Hopefully that was a joke :? )

Fitting Isolator Switch between Meter & CU

Do any of you guys know if CE ( YEDL coz I'm in Hull ) will fit Isolator Switches FOC ? As I mentioned before, a dno guy is coming to my house tomorrow to c/o the old cast cutout & I was wondering if there would be any chance that he will have the time to upgrade the Service Fuse, ( if needed...

Would 6mm T&E be OK for a Shed feed ?

Yes Plugwash, at no point will the cable be outside of the building. There are hot & cold water pipes into the shed but these also come through from the bathroom. I've checked all the bonding points in the house and all the pipework is correctly done. Thanks again.

Would 6mm T&E be OK for a Shed feed ?

Distance from CU to Shed is 6M. nothing big plugged in there ( no welders for instance, just normal hand power tools like drills, jigsaw etc. Cable will go underneath the floor of the Kitchen/Bathroom extension of a two-up two-down terraced house and through the wall directly to the adjoining...
