    The benefit cap.

big-all, not sure what facts would you like, I don't have access to her bank account :) . I know her, see her on regular basis, have been in the house she lives with the kids, helped her move furniture, helped her completing application forms for several job positions. The only thing I don't...

    The benefit cap.

Here is an example, my partner's relative, a lady in her 40s, fit and healthy, no disability whatsoever, a single parent, 3 children, all teenagers. Very intelligent, no cheatting at all but knows the benefits system from A to Z and manages to sqeeze every possible penny from it. Doesn't work...

    Kitchen layout

Maybe I am messy but when using the hobs or the sink, there are usually splashes around, so I wouldn't put either of them on a kitchen island.

    richard c ??

Well, if my comment is considered negative, I was sincerely surprised that Paul is working for a customer. He asked questions to which even I knew the answer and I indeed replied to him in one of his other topics. My overall impression from his posts was that he had never tiled a floor before...

what are my rights after being a victim of Dot & Dab til

Having tiled one bathroom and one toilet floor only, I would say the quality of work is not acceptable even for a beginner DIY-er. Did they tiled with their eyes closed to put the border upside down and the liitle piece of tile with the strips vertically? Sorry for your bad experience, OP.

    Need help with my lawn

The secret for a good lawn is in the preparation - cultivating, fertilizing, etc. I would buy a good book and would follow the instructions. Hessayon is one of the authors that pops in mind. My ex redid the lawn a couple of years ago, it looks great.

    Faux Suede wallcovering

The only fabric-covered walls I have seen were in some museum - an old palace. The fabric was silk and was not attached to the wall as wallpaper. It was arranged as panels - perhaps some sort of timber panels upholstered with the fabric and then attached to the wall. Maybe you can do the same...

    Cutting already fitted coving

Why do you want to put coving in front of your wardrobe? To cover the gap between the wardrobe nd the ceiling? You can use cornice or a suitable skirting board. In the later case, it might be possible to cut the existing coving at 90 degrees to the wall, so you have the skirting board butt...

Newbie asking "Is this possible ?"

Robbi, I am not a plumber or gas engineer. I can solder pipes, install sinks, baths, etc. but about the type and design of your hot water system you better wait for some of the pro plumbers to reply. Or post a topic on the plumbing forum with more specific questions. From the drawings it...

Newbie asking "Is this possible ?"

I wouldn't remove the door that leads to the bedroom/bathroom section. If you live with someone else and one of you goes to bed earlier then the other, 2 doors would provide better soundproofing than one door. Same for the bathroom - if you have guests, you don't want to hear what's happening in...

    Bosch multi tool?

I've got the multitool as a Christmas present a couple of years ago. Used it in several occasions, very pleased with it. My ex borrowed it too, very impressed  Be careful if you have to do some precise cutting, it kicks back slightly. If you are cutting timber and keep it at the same...

    its a cover up

So the posh-men do this nowadays - trying to cover up instead of doing the decent thing and pay the landlord for the damage you caused? Setting good example for your daughter too

Wardrobe end wall - stud or sheet of 18mm ply ?

I would use either a material matching the wardrobe doors, or the same material you are going to use for the study area desk/shelves. MDF perhaps? Or laminated furniture panels? Or pine/other wood panel?

    Tiling over Glass Tiles

Perhaps you can put some splashback sheet material over the tiles - plastic, metal, glass, whatever else they make them from. Lining paper would look ridiculous imho.

I realize my answer ddoesn'tcover the full scope of the OP's question but thought it might give him an idea if he gets itemized quotations.
