Thames Water no notice given for installer WiFi meter!

You make some good points jaba. The bottom line is, the meters are coming for all of us. Here is your chance to out think the things, make a few bob if your idea is a winner. I start the ball rolling. Fit a water tank or an extra one . Fit a motorised valve on to a cold main feed pipe that will...

Thames Water no notice given for installer WiFi meter!

My understanding is that Thames is and has been rolling out these smart type meters for the last few years now. Starting in London but will then move out to cover all of their area. Big brother is watching you!

Will Hive fit a old Switchmaster 400 back plate

As soon as I posted the easy life post, I knew it would not be the best idea. It would look rather naff and I should have pulled it. You make some good points stem, thanks.

Will Hive fit a old Switchmaster 400 back plate

Any pointers for a change over to Hive. My boiler is a Profile, the system is a Y plan. If it's not a straight forward change, what are the wiring mods needed? Thanks for any info. Pete

    Airlock in CH system?

I would be very tempted to remove each rad, one at a time, and flush them out. Now would be the time to have a go, before the weather really changes.

Is my plumber ripping me off?

Could you not fit this wheel? Or buy it and ask him to do so, price should drop to £150ish.

    Heated Loo seat

So, this Loo is either for people who need it or for those who like and can afford to have a couple fitted. It would be something to add to the list of a new build for me if I was in that position. Pete

    Heated Loo seat

Haha, I've never used one before, just got me thinking, could it be the next big ask?

    Heated Loo seat

A bit of a straw-poll to see if people have fitted or have been asked to fit this type. Stayed at a hotel with this type of seat and it got me thinking. It was very easy to get to like it and could see, once used, that having one would be nice. This seat had a remote control for the functions...

    Toilet spray gun

I've seen them fitted in the Sanderson in London a few years back and was a little surprised. Expect now that lots of hotels have them fitted, "what ever floats your boat " I'm a brush or stick man.

Have a look at FAQs 8. Good starting point for your problem. Also, have a look at FAQs Heating/Boilers 12. If you then think it's could be blocked. I've used this simple flush with success. Pete

Removed old cork tiles from wall

Thanks Vinn&Steve for your info/questions. All the wall is covered in the adhesive, I would say it's a flooring type, as recommend for cork flooring. I also would say that this cork flooring has been their for a very long time. Putting cork flooring onto walls reminds me of the 1970. The backing...

Buying long (3m) copper pipe, any cons?

As you say, cut the 3m into 6 and place in a plastic bag. Lot more easy to carry on a bus, I think someone on here does a lot of traveling between jobs using the buses.

    Downstairs radiators not getting hot

Try this; remove bleed screw of the pump. Now with the pump running, check that the pumps impeller is spinning. Expect some water once you remove this large bleed screw, so have a cup etc to collect the small amount of water. Also see FAQs 14 & 20 before starting the above.
