    Pipe Hammer

I will check the arrows. Just thinking, could it be caused by the thermostat being installed on the output side of the rad? I would hope that my plumber got it the right way!

    Pipe Hammer

We did install new reads, but reused the existing thermostatic values, which are modern ish. These were simply taken off the old rads and installed ion the new. Might they be on the wrong way round? Can I fix the existing valves or is it eaiser just to get ne valves fitted? Cheers

    Polishing concrete

I have just had a new fireplace fitted with slate hearth, which is a bit smaller than the original concrete/stone hearth at floor board level. I want to make it all look nice and want to avoid tiling the original portion of the hearth, as I don't want it any higher than the floor level...

    Garage Roof

I had been told that but there didn't seem to be much difference in 12 and 18 mm (I presume 18mm is thick enough?) Do you know if there is any difference in exterior ply and brazil ply?

    Garage Roof

I am planning to reroof my garage with exterior ply and then get it felted. Would 12mm ply be strong enough? The roof has a low pitch to it and there isn't any load to it. Also, I have seen Brazil PLy, is this the same as exterior ply? Cheers

    Tyres

Thanks for that. Its only a saab 9-3, but the garage had put extras on it to sell it as a "limited edition", which included the big wheels. I did find a website, www.mytyre.co.uk, which sells branded tyres direct, so might end getting them from there.

    Tyres

Can anybody help? I have just had a bit of a shock when my garage quoted me £130 per tyre for my car following a service. I have now got this down to £103 per wheel from a smaller firm but does anyone know of a good source? Internet, etc. Apparently, my problem is that the car has 19...

    Patio Laying

I need to relay a patio area at the rear of my house and am confused about what to bed the slabs onto. The patio is only ever going to have foot traffic, BBQs, etc. I have read on one website that a mix of sand & cement (10:1), dry, is fine and bedding a slab at a time, rahter than screeding...

    UPVC Shiplap

I want to replace some rotten tounge and groove with Upvc shiplap and at the same time replace some old timbers in a small lean to porch. Central Heating thermostats

I have a sealed central heating system powered by a combi boiler and recently moved two raditors to new positions. We just re-used the existing thermostats for the raditors. However, we are now getting a hammering noise fro the two thermostats (not all the time) which goes away when we...

    Insulation

My house (circa 1900) has the upper floor built into the roof space, which is original, and as such the first floor rooms have part coombed ceilings and a very small attic above leading to the apex of the roof. Between the roof and the coomber ceilings, there is no insulation and the...

ALL HELP APPRECIATED! I need to replace a retaining garden wall, which is about 3 feet high. The current wall is built on top of the patio I am taking up and the mortar is also starting to come out, so I presume that there is a problem with moisture behind the wall When building the new...
