Securing a WC to the floor

I am installing a WC (close-coupled) where there is only one pair of screw holes to secure to the (solid) floor. This leaves the WC not as rigid as I would like and I wonder if anybody can suggest whether or not I can use some type of adhesive to add to the stability? Thanks for any help.

Leak from top of flushpipe to WC cistern.

A leak is occurring from the top of the flush pipe where it connects to the siphon on as back-to-wall WC, which is about four years old. Is it preferable to fit a replacement securing nut and washer here or would it be best to dustbin the rubber washer and seal with silicone? If the latter...

MFI website causing my PC memory problems.

A bit late getting back, chaps, sorry. I have IE (version 6) installed currently. Updates to the OS (XP home edition) are flagged automatically, but downloaded and installed manually. I use the following antiviri: Ad-Aware : before each shut-down Windows Defender : every couple of days...

MFI website causing my PC memory problems.

Anyone had problems with the MFI (www.mfi.co.uk) site? My laptop locked up earlier today when trying to browse this sites kitchens link. In the processes of Windows Task Manager it shows that iexplorer.exe continues to absorb more and more memory in increments of 2Mb every second or so. Is my...

    Futile tracing of leak.

Still have not been able to determine the source of the leak, but I am sure the central heating pipes can be eliminated from suspicion as they have stayed completely dry since I last posted. I have run the washing machine with no problem and the kitchen sink is absolutely leak free. What I...

    Futile tracing of leak.

Worth a try. :) Good idea, DIA, think I will try running the washing machine as it's pretty near to the described damp area. I haven't checked the waste pipe but I would expect to find that pretty dry as the retained water would most likely have evaporated over the recent months. Can't...

    Futile tracing of leak.

I am trying to trace the source of some dampness in a bathroom where a partition wall joins the ceiling. I have removed the plasterboard from this area and also a couple of floorboards (entirely dry) from the above floor (which is a kitchen). There is a 15mm copper pipe which runs at right...

Blocked waste pipe from kitchen sink.

The water was cold as required on the instructions (Kleen Off is the brand). These were crystals so you have to add water, you couldn't pour them neat.

Blocked waste pipe from kitchen sink.

Spent a couple of hours today trying to remove a blockage which seems to have accumulated in a friends waste pipe from the kitchen sink. I began by removing the trap and then using a plumbers snake, getting it down the pipe about a couple of metres or more. Thinking I had partially shifted the...

    Leaking back-to-wall WC at connector.

With a back-to-wall WC are there models where the flush pipe holds any water? I thought that other than when the flush mechanism is in use the flush pipe remains empty. There is a continual leak from the (manufacturer’s) rubber connector that joins the flush pipe to the back of the pan. Upon...

Tails on a leaking monoblock kitchen tap.

Job done! Had to replace the tails though, as recommended. Upon removing the old ones it was clear that they were not going to withstand any further connections. Must have taken a bit of a pasting on the last fit. Thanks for the advice, guys. Oh, and Softus, I will take note of your comment...

Tails on a leaking monoblock kitchen tap.

This is why I removed the lowest part of the 15mm section; 'cos it was mullered. I might have to obtain some new tails as you say but I do have a reasonable set of box spanners. Thanks for your help, Paul.

Tails on a leaking monoblock kitchen tap.

Perhaps the ones that I have experienced have been of a low quality. JG Speedfit probably would be better...I'll consider using those in future. I have tried several attempts with copper olives using them on their own, with PTFE, with jointing compound, with LSX...all to the same effect. This...

Tails on a leaking monoblock kitchen tap.

Quite right about the omission. My dislike for pushfits is due to profound difficulties in removing these whenever I have come across them in the past, that is when they have been in place for a long time. The object of joy that I am trying to attach is a levered compression ball-valve.

Tails on a leaking monoblock kitchen tap.

Following a leak under the kitchen sink I have removed a rubbishy looking flexible hose and replaced it with copper connections. Despite repeated attempts I have not been able to stop the leak. I think the problem is that the tails of the monoblock are tapered from 10-12-15mm. I thought that...

    Washing machine hose on spigot?

It sure did, CM. That joint is now as tight as a crabs backpassage! (I am an expert in crustacea by the way). Thanks very much for your help! :)

    Washing machine hose on spigot?

Good idea, I'll try that. I was calm by the way, honestly. Praps I won't italicise words in future as it can imply that the the poster is in a high state of anxiety which is not the case, really . :)

    Washing machine hose on spigot?

The spigot is cut off enough. I could possibly cut about one and a half cms off of the hose end which would may allow the spigot to go further inside the hose.

    Washing machine hose on spigot?

I have just attached a washing machine hose to the spigot on the trap beneath the kitchen sink. When using the machine there is a pretty small leak from this point. I just about eliminated it by severly tightening the jubilee clip. For a better connection is it advisable to smear LSX (or perhaps...
