    Best screwdriver?

ok guys yes it's funny but i've never stripped a single screw using a geared drill with a bit extension to do it. i leave it on gear 1 and it's fine. i've actually done this many times so... it works and if you have any recommendations of a powered lightweight screwdriver since drills are quite...

I want a powererd screwdriver cause my drill is bulky. I do a lot of work on laptops and phones so I want something small that can take the small security bits and the battery last a while. Whats a good tool?

What does cut corner out for pier 120mm mean?

Hi, I'm thinking of buying a second hand kitchen and some of the dimensions he gave me say "corner cut out for pier 120mm". What does that mean exactly, will it cause me any problem? Sorry if this is wrong forum but there wasn't a kitchen fitters one I could see.

The very best way to protect adjacent soldered joins

I had come up with my own invention of a water bath strapped to all the other joints but I think I'm gunna try the cool gel. Chris R solution sounds like the daddy but also a lot more expensive. If the cool gel fails, then I'll get myself some proper kit and stop faffing around with B & Q so I...

    Removing old attic water tank

Well, the mystery is partly solved. The kitchen is a couple of inches higher than the rest of the rooms in the place for no apparent reason. It had been my intention to destroy the quarry tiles and old screed, put in some Ardex K-15B so it was the same as everything else. Today I decided to try...

The very best way to protect adjacent soldered joins

I dunno why I had to do it. The pro plumber we had in didn't bother he just buried the pipes in the bonding unprotected. But the most complicated bit of plumbing I've ever done connects his work to the rest of the system There are 9 joins in very close proximity, reducers, etc. I'll do it...

What qualifications do I need to do gas work?

Actually that's not so bad, if I can learn how to work on the gas safely I can dismantle it all , put the channels where they should have been in the first place and call a pro in to put it back together so then the gas work done on the house was just "installed and fitted boiler and fire". ;)...

Horizontal crack in floor joist just above middle

I'll have to pull up more boards to be sure but it looks like it stops and starts again, like the crack finishes, then another one opens up. I don't want to pull up any more boards than necessary, so I went a long way further down and yes the crack had extended from the wall all the way along...

    Newbie Question

Will do, but it's on hold for a few days because someone I know is giving up being a spread which means he won't be needing his tools anymore so I won't have to buy them with a bit of luck :D Here is a "shopping" list of stuff I was hoping to get off him, see if I'm missing anything out...

What qualifications do I need to do gas work?

Bumping up old threads isn't always so bad. I want all the gas moved in my place and was going to just call in a corgi and ask him what labour he needs doing so it's just a case for him to take a few things down and that, I want the boiler disconnected for a while and then reconnected so now I'm...

    Removing old attic water tank

As my old camera was crap, the tomorrow photos never happened. I have now uploaded them, they give some idea but I also took two movies which give a better idea. The movies are however MASSIVE so I will link them to mediafire for people with fast internet to look at. I tried to reduce them but...

    Newbie Question

I reckon practising on real work is a better idea and so this is what I'm gunna do.
  16. Rear Corner Right

    Rear Corner Right

Not a lot to see here except it's right next to the joist so I'm hoping this means it's got nothing to do with being a load bearing wall
  17. Rear Corner Left

    Rear Corner Left

Maybe an expert can get some clues here. That wood going from the joist is laid onto plasterboard and just nailed into the joists it connects.
