    weird taste / smell from new taps

    i have recently had new plumbing most of which is push fit, infact my kitchen tap is all push fit no copper before than, and i do get a taste which i don;t get from other taps, i persume its the coating inside the pipe, can;t say i smell it tho.

    oh very odd, unfortunatly i wasn;t present at the time so exact details are unknown. if i knew they would have fitted meter and left capped off then i would have got it fitted a few weeks before the central heating was ready! anyway they have arranged to come back tomorrow to fit meter...

    just about to lay my own granite tiles. regarding sealing them how do you seal the front, its like a glossy finish anyway so i pursumed it is not porous on the front? thanks steve

    no thanks had no problems with him in the past. also diggin on this forum its seems there is mixed reviews about which side to use some same shiny, others say rough, must be personal choice i guess.

    good tip WC! funny enough i had just seen my carpet layer so i asked him he said it don;t matter but prefers the rough side up as it holds the underlay in place, once down its not a problem but sometimes it moves whilst laying the carpet. he did also say tho that if i lay vinyl over any the nail...
