    Ideally yes, but the 1st floor covering is glued down and I would have to thread it through in small sections with loads of joints so easier to use plastic due to its flexibility, I'm guessing?

I have a rim joist around the perimeter of the house surrounded by a reinforcing steel bar (Wimpey no fines in situ concrete house)...
