Is it possible for some buildings built in the 1990's to be asbestos free?. There is certainly some buildings which i know of built in the 90's which i would find hard to believe if they contain asbestos

My Artex under the stairs has a fibre sticking out of it, am pretty sure you cannot see asbestos fibres in Artex, hence why its got to be sampled. I am baffled a bit here though, it was applied in 1995, could it be asbestos possibly? Hopefully somebody can shine some light? Thanks

If in doubt, just get it tested by a asbestos removal company.

If the neighbours is Asbestos, then yours will be likely to contain it too. Can you not get a Asbestos consultant to sample it for you?

If you look on the internet, you will often get lots of different years when artex asbestos stopped. I think genuine Artex, stopped in 1984, and a competitor in 1987, and generic Artex in 1992. My house was built in 1995, so shouldn't contain Asbestos Artex, but planning on getting the artex...

The HSE will say any building built before 2000 could contain it , I emailed a asbestos consultant and they said building's built after 1993, would be unlikely to contain asbestos. Asbestos was used, heavily in the 1960's till the mid 1980's. So its, very likely to be asbestos.

Artex does contain asbestos, till around 1984. However, not all artex contained Asbestos so its best to get a sample taken, to be 100% sure.

hi, I Have a pipe which runs from bathroom sink into a shelf board. Am trying to upload the picture which should help what am on about. However am concerned it looks like some kind of asbestos cement type of pipe and what could be board be made from? House is about 19 years old so should be ok?

I dont understand the negativity of this! Surely, people could be a bit more concerned? Not sure how it's trolling! Am only asking would a one off exposure be serious? or only bad if its prolonged exposure. Please be nice :wink:

All these possible exposures have been in the house! Where control of Asbestos regulations 2012 don't apply.
