Timeswitch with daylight savings to Control Outside Lamposts

Hi John, Yes will most definitely feed back my experiences if we use the Nightmatic. Like you without a clock I can't see how the internal processor can calculate the time from the ambient light conditions but maybe it has the processing power to do just that. As is supposedly claimed there is...

    Storage and backups. NAS drives?

Hi Chris, What are you backing up to need 4Tb, a music or video collection or home movies? As others have said not a good idea I know you are not comfortable with Cloud Backup but in reality that is the way everything is going in the future. There are numerous companies but one that springs...

Timeswitch with daylight savings to Control Outside Lamposts

I am hoping the electricians on this forum have experience in modern control gear and able to offer some advice on the following. We have two lamp posts at the front of our Village Hall to provide illumination to the forecourt for hall users at night. They are currently controlled by a basic...

    Barn Paint alternative

Thanks DcDec Is that Sadolin Superdec? Yes Sadolin is a great paint and I use Classic on all my timber windows and frames but its more of a stain than a opaque paint. It also comes in fewer colours than Barn Paint. I think you are right and I would be better using BEDEC and keep the price...

    Barn Paint alternative

I have just built a playhouse out of 9mm exterior ply for my grandsons and was going to paint it with Bedec Barn Paint as I have had very good results in the past. However firstly there are a limited range of colours including lack of bright blue and although I know its expensive the price seems...

    Lighting for Village Hall

No that has been our problem. I have tried unsucessfully to find a specialist who can advise on an appropriate design. Each electrician has a different view. Being a charity we are finding it difficult to find the money for the actual work let alone paying for a consultant. There are a...

    Lighting for Village Hall

We are pretty sure they are 8ft as the tubes are 125w. We were not thinking about the LED one due to the expense but this type of fitting with normal metal halide bulbs if these provide the correct light levels and colour Fozzie

I am seeking advice from forum contributors about replacement lighting for a village hall. The hall is approx 15m x 6m and has a high vaulted ceiling with four timber roof trusses (see pictures here http://www.hunsdonvillagehall.org/facilities). It has mixed use from Badminton and carpet bowls...

    Re-Keying 5 week old Paintwork??

B***er I should have guessed that might have been the reply. The windows were prepared and painted as we were having new curtains fitted and didn't want the preparation of the frames to cover them in dust. We will either have to take the curtains down again or try and tape some polythene...

Private water meter -What type and flow rate

Firstly many thanks to all who have responded and your suggestions. As forum members have highlighted the main cause of the excessive water usage is most probably a leak. We have now been in touch with Veolia who agree the sudden increase over previous years is unlikely to be from the...

    Re-Keying 5 week old Paintwork??

I have been trying to redecorate my hardwood windows using Sadolin Classic. I have rubbed down all the surfaces with glasspaper and coarse wire wool and have given all the windows one coat of Classic Redwood. However due to the appalling weather and other commitments I have not had time to put...

Private water meter -What type and flow rate

Thanks yes did a quick calculation using water company figures and calculated nearly 1100 tonne per year. Veolia will check meter anc charge £70 if found within calibration tolerances so may go with that but in the meantime will do some checks of our own. Thanks again Fozzie

Private water meter -What type and flow rate

Our village hall and the two attached residential cottages are supplied by a single water main through a Utility Company meter which splits after the meter to serve the three buildings. The building is over two hundred years old and short of digging up all the forecourt and front gardens we have...

    Boiler Change Advice

Thanks Alec 1 To clarify, you are suggesting removing the existing thermostatic mixing valves and circulating pumps on the two UFH zone packs? If so how do your regulate the flow temperature from the boiler to the required low temperature used by the heating loops and what safeguards are there...
