I've now shaped and fitted a couple of B&Q Elveden Etched Pane Doors - pre-glazed oak.
The instructions say they must be finished, either paint or varnish (but not wax, polish or oil). The wife likes the existing colour of the doors, so how I can do what needs to be done, without altering...
thanks guys - in the end I just picked up some rubbish 5x3 18" lengths and cut 40mm slots into 3 of them.
With some wedges - the door was held perfectly and planed to perfection.
Hi all,
Some people know them as door jigs, some, no doubt by something else, but how do you support a door when your planing it?
I'm tempted to make something -just like this ...
, but welcome comments from those with a bit more experience than me.
Managed to suss out what was wrong thanks to the double guessing that the posts above gave me.
Had another look, and found *another* wire that had come loose - damn that sparky that had been working in that Airing Cupboard fitting a socket for a shower pump !!
Anyway .. the wire that was...
Hi all,
Over the past couple of days we've had both a plumber and electrician in the house doing some work - neither of which have touched our Hot Water / Central Heating timer (Drayton Tempus 7).
This morning my wife advised me that the house was cold (I was still under the duvet at the...
Further to this post, I've had doubt cast as to whether the substance I'm looking at sticking some tiles to the floor is actually bitumen or not. Seems I've and a plumber I've had in the house this week, may have jumped the conclusion that it's bitumen based on the fact that it's black.
How...
Thanks for the reply. I've read some difficulty is involved in the removal of this stuff, so what about insulating it away from the heat (funnily enough, with insulating boards).
Would that be sufficient ? If they're good boards, I'm not sure why it would'nt be .. but it's worthy of you...
Hi all.
Last night I picked up the existing laminate in our kitchen area, to find some "pink" floor tiles underneath. Looking closer, the adhesive is black. Our plumber that we have in at the moment, suggested that this was bitumen.
Question. According to FAQ's of Warmup underfloor...
yeah, I know.
Obviously I can identify which is the live wire coming in, but how I can identify from the other items (boilter stat, 3pv etc) which should carry the live etc? Can I accurately rely in the colour of the wire as per standards (inc new harmonised colours etc?)
A friend of mine popped around today to replace our aged programmer - however halfway through the job, he had a phone call and had to shoot off to work - understandable - but leaving me with no heating nor hot water ! Unfortunely he will not be able to come back for a number of days, and we...
Thanks for that Mandate .. I'm getting a little clearer.
Came home today, unsupprisingly to a freezing cold house - clearly the room stat and/or boiler did not do its job.
Room stat was clearly signalling that it was calling for heat (desired temp was 22, current temp was 18). Popped...
I think my problem may be a bit more basic than I thought.
I'm failign to understand how the thermostat operates with the programmable timer.
Given that the programmer has two controls - one for hot water (off, once, daily constant etc) and the same for central heating .. where should...
Hi everyone ... wonder if anyone can advise this DIY novice.
I've bought a Drayton Digistat 3 to replace our broken (and now binned) Honeywell room thermostat (which looks like, but was not identical to this type. ie the round dial on the front).
In the location of the thermostat there's...
