URGENT 2nd ceiling rose into existing 2way ligthing

Should I run the 2nd rose back to the "primary" switch, or can I piggy back it of the existing rose? I can do either option easily as its only a short distance between primary switch and 1st ceiling rose, I'just don't know which is the way to do it. Urgent as I have plasterer coming...

    Camera OSD through coax?

Thanks. It was the screen res that concerned me on this - is it sufficient, or rubbish because its a cheapy? I've read various things about small/low res screens being now good for fine tuning the focus. Exactly the conclusion I came to, there doesn't seem to be a middle ground either...

    Camera OSD through coax?

that brings me to my other post regarding test monitor..... as I don't know what they cost, cheap, dear or mid range, I picked out two that seemed priced in the region I was thinking of, but are they overpriced crap, or good for what I'm likely to need for fixed camera in the small business market?

    Camera OSD through coax?

In which case I apologise, but I took the wording to mean "here's another doughnut diyer, buying £20 ebay camera's and expecting the world" as I've seen many posts, many of which you have replied to with that implication. (I'm not saying incorrectly!) TBH, working in IT where its a struggle...

    Camera OSD through coax?

nope - never claimed to. Thats why I asked the question "I was wondering if the OSD menu can be controlled in the same way?" The cost of the cameras I've used before IS irrelevant. I only mention them this is what I have done before. Doing it using the camera joystick and viewing via iphone...

    Camera OSD through coax?

I'm not looking to break the mould, but as I work in IT, and do some Cat5 cabling jobs for computer purposes, if I can port that across to CCTV - great! I only ask about the OSD over coax as being a one man show, going up and down the ladder becomes tedious quite quickly! Need an extra pair of...

day/night mode settings and intermittant night vision.

I appreciate the complement - but I'm just a beginner! CCTV/Sercurity is certainly something that interests me though, so I would like to pursue it. The customer is questions has already passed on my details to others, I just have to be careful not to run before I can walk. I'm really...

    Camera OSD through coax?

or heaven forbid... IP cameras! I found the thing I'd read. It talks of Panasonic and Pelco, but the one I'd seem was the AV tech one (see last post in the link). http://www.cctvforum.com/viewtopic.php?f=17&t=20854 Also found this...

day/night mode settings and intermittant night vision.

Couldn't agree with you more. I'm not claiming to be a professional. The two shop installations I've done were favours for a friend. The one I'm currently working on is an already valued customer (I do their IT support), that I'm doing as a 6month try/buy basis, for my own benefit as much as...

any recomendations for a CCTV test monitor?

Something along these lines ... http://www.henrys.co.uk/cctv/lcdmonitor.htm or would I be better with something like this http://www.henrys.co.uk/cctv/CCTV_Test_Monitor.htm or are there better options/prices out there?

    Camera OSD through coax?

No worries :) I believe the ones I'm talking about are powered/coax as normal using RG59+2 cable but the DVR sends PTZ control over the coax, and of course the camera has to be compatible to reecive the command. I figured this is more complex than OSD, so the OSD over coax might be doable...

    Camera OSD through coax?

No it isn't relevant. I didn't ask how much they cost if they are available, I asked if the function is "available" on any DVR/Camera combo.

day/night mode settings and intermittant night vision.

only option for burst is on or off. - easy to check the results I guess. The lead time - might it be how long its dull/dark before switching over maybe (to avoid switching during heavy cloud during the day, or bright light at night).

    Camera OSD through coax?

I meant the system that allows PTZ to be controlled over the coax, but thats not the real question. I would like to control the OSD for the camera over coax (which I guess would be similar/same system as PTZ over coax) if its possible.

day/night mode settings and intermittant night vision.

Hi, could someone shed some light on what some of the day night menu settings actually do on my Twilight Nero camera? The auto/day/night/ext option is explained in the booklet, but these are not.... 1) LEAD TIME The selectable switching time from Day to Night and from Night to Day. The...

    Camera OSD through coax?

Hi, I'm just getting into CCTV having done a couple of very basic installs in shops. Where I've set up the camera so far I've used my iphone to remotely view the camera and access the OSD display using the buttons/joystick on the camera itself. I understand this can be done directly from...

2way light, 1 way light, merging into a pair of 2way

Great info thanks. I hadn't realised about the switch to switch bit, I thought it was all done at the rose like a 1way. I have now verified that the switch I need to move is the one with 3wires. Can I simply join and extend this to the other switch position, or better to replace complete run...

wiring for a pair of outside lights and safely routing cable

Hi thanks for your reply I intend to take feed from lighting circuit, hence running the cables up to the ceiling void. I only mention the sockets as the cable run is directly behind where the outside light fitting will be. My interpretation of the zones is that by having the socket there the...

Sealing and grouting slate hearth slab.

We had a hearth put in made from grey slate paving slabs a month or so ago. The guy that installed it used linseed oil to bring up the slate, and advised to do it again in a week or 2. The cut edges needed another go to keep them as dark as the top surface. It'll look a bit shiny initially...
