2way light, 1 way light, merging into a pair of 2way

Next daft question of the day I've knocked two rooms into one and at present have two seperate light in the same room. I want both ceiling roses to operate together on 2way switching. Ceiling rose1 is wired as a 1way to a 2gang 2way switch at the bottom of the stairs (the other gang of the...

wiring for a pair of outside lights and safely routing cable

Hi, I'm after a bit of guidance please. I have a pair of latern style outdoor lights that I want to put either side of my front door. I don't really want cable or conduit visible either inside or out if I can avoid it. The hall way will be replastered in a few weeks, so chasing etc not a...

best way to deal with a patch of floor 10mm lower

900x400mm, literally right inside the doorway (where I've bridged the cavity having replaced a window with a door)

best way to deal with a patch of floor 10mm lower

Hi, I've got a patch of floor right by the front door way that is 10mm lower than the rest (my fault.. didn't mix enough concrete!) I seem to recall adhesive is only supposed to be a few mm thick else its not as effective. What the best thing to do for tiling it? Top it up with a bit more...

    Removing paint from old tiles

try some nail varnish remover if you have some about the house, or paint thinners. Concentrate on a small area at a time. Whatever you do is going to be slow going I suspect to avoid damage.

moving a boiler.... but not far! cost?

Thank you I wasn't aware of that. I was thinking it was like the gas safe scenario - ie. not registered = don't use them. But I guess gas is a some what riskier business. Looks like I'm going to have to go the DIY route anyway due to deminishing funds. THis was never my intention, but it...

moving a boiler.... but not far! cost?

I appear to have unintentionally gotten on the wrong side of everyone here. "Methinks youve had your quota of good information on this subject, I would crack on and get it done" Thanks. Some people are being very helpful, but I didn't realise help was rationed. My apologies if I've outstayed...

moving a boiler.... but not far! cost?

Nothing wrong with the boiler so why spend £1000+ for the sake Of it? If there was a need to replace it in the near future it would be with a grant vortex ( exactly the same dimensions) so location and flue could all be reused. If it was a few years down the line and model etc had changed, then...

    adding a rad near boiler

Sounds like a few feet extra copper is the way to go then! thanks for your input. :) We use E7 as its set for every morning (4-5.30). Boiler is on most of the weekends, through the winter, but on an hour in the morning during the week (but we have found the water is not hot enough after...

    Backfilling with wet clay

we had a kitchen drain put in 2yrs ago backfilled the same, although only short run so everything was just piled back in and stompted on. This week we have lifted the turf that was put over and laid some slabs. It was very obvious where the trench was and walking around on the clay made it...

    adding a rad near boiler

sorry, 3way is connected to HW and CH, to allow either independantly, or both at the same time. We just use immersion for HW all year on E7 and have the boiler top it up early evening through winter months. Elec shower and dishwasher mean we rarely use more than a HWcylinders worth in a day...

    adding a rad near boiler

system is not zoned, single circuit feeding 4rads up stairs 6rads down (soon to be 4rads down). There is a drayton 3 way motorised valve for HW cyl just after the pump. All rads have TS valves, except for upstair bathroom. is that what you needed to know? many thanks

    adding a rad near boiler

I need to add a rad, only a few feet from where the boiler flow/return pipes pass before entering the ceiling void. Would I be correct in thinking I cannot simply T-off of these to install the rad as its before the pump? The pump being located upstair in the airing cupboard. Therefore I would...
