    Immersion heater died?

Thank you for your replies. Multimeter - no I don't have one (do have a small electric testing screwdriver which lights up if you touch something live) Reset button - couldn't find anything that felt like a button. There is what feels like a screw head on top of the cap. Manager to turn it a...

    Immersion heater died?

I have gas fired central heating with a boiler. But when the weather gets hot like this I turn it off altogether and just use the immersion heater. But the water isn't heating up. The light on the 'socket' (looks like a socket but has think cable coming out of it) has come on. Probably last...

wheel brace and jack needed for car with runflats?

Thank you explaining that. I get it about rotating the wheel (had to do same for bike when using some orange gunk to sort our a slow puncture). But no air compressor or sealing mousse in the mini. So still tempted to put jack in loft. Maybe checking with my breakdown company would be best...

wheel brace and jack needed for car with runflats?

Hi folks Sorry if this is a really stupid question, but have searched the Car forum and can't find a relevant post. My car is a BMW-built Mini Cooper Clubman, 2009. In stripping out everything possible from the boot, I found car jack and wheel brace. Is there anything I'd need these for...

    Leaking pitched roofing

Hi Nige The water comes into the window recess, about 6cm inside from the glass (going outside to inside), and about 20cm from the window corner (the corner below that inverted triangle bracket on the fascia for the phone wire). So the water drips onto the window sill. (There are water marks for...

    Leaking pitched roofing

Hi folks Please can you help. I have a pitched tiled roof on 1950's end of terrace house. About 3 times in 12 years the roof has leaked in extreme weather - has to be torrential rain with very high wind blowing that side of the roof. I got some quotes and now am confused. One roofer says the...

How to glue 9mm wooden handle into 13mm stone hole in pestle

Thanks Burnerman, epoxy glue it is. Think I'll use Milliput. Thanks Foxhole, I think a wedge would crack the wood, it looks very dry and the pestle was bought by my aunt about 50 years ago.

How to glue 9mm wooden handle into 13mm stone hole in pestle

This is a small and very old pestle. It was glued with some kind of gum or resin which is now crumbling. How can I securely re-attach the wooden handle? The 'peg' is diameter 9mm, fitting into a stone hole of 13mm. Attached is a pic. Thanks Mary
