Low pressure, fit a storage tank?

So are we saying that providing the storage tank is before the boiler, it will or won't improve the hot water flow? Would any sort of pump be required/advisable to increase pressure from the tank or am I misunderstanding how the tank works? The tank would be located about a meter to the side...

Low pressure, fit a storage tank?

Hi Our terraced house is on a shared water main with 5 other properties, which up until the last 12 months has been acceptable, just. However since then the pressure seems to have dropped around 25%. The main issue this causes is that we have our condensing boiler in the loft as this was...

    Side bath panels

In light of wanting to keep the underside of the bath accessible in case of emergency, I am looking to use something that makes it removable. I have found two options: http://www.screwfix.com/p/roller-zinc-plated-25-x-32-x-16mm-pack-of-10/27007 or...

    Side bath panels

Not sure if this would be the best place to put this, apologies if not! Had a bath installed a little while ago and wasn't happy with the progress of the plumber in other aspects and as such it wasn't completed with a side panel. Isue being tha bath is higher than normal due to conflicts...

    Can't increase boiler pressure

Hi We had a Sime Ecomfort HE 35 condensing boiler fitted about 18months ago and noticed in the last few months that the HW was quite slow, and more importantly causing the thermostatic shower to fluctuate!!! I have checked the pressure on the front gauge and noticed that the needle is...

    Sliding loft storage doors

Hi Just had the loft strengthened and boarded out and want to make it look a bit tidy and also use the eves for smaller storage. Been looking around for sliding track sets at around 3.2m to go from side to side, but they seem really expensive at around £40 per set for a two way! Is this...

    Downrating a 6mm cable?

So are you saying that I could just keep everything as is and just remove it from the 45A pull switch and drop it in to the first socket, then so on? Thanks

    Downrating a 6mm cable?

Hi We have an onsuite electric haower being serviced by a 6mm from a 32A breaker. However the shower is just about to be changed to a thermostatic shower, with light and fan fed the lighting circuit via a siwtch height isolator in the bedroom. Three things; The cable is routed up the side...

    Wall lights

Hi We have some wall lights already installed, but want to change them. We have found some new lights that we want but they have a flex and a plug on them. Are these suitable to have the tails cut off and be wired directly in to the existing wiring and be controlled via light switch...

What Amp rating for the kitchen?

Thanks for all your replies, however I dont know where he got it from, but it is loaded using Wylex MCB's. I am not doubting the quality of the install and indeed there may be a valid reason, but just didnt tell me why it is a 16Amp. He didnt mention having to replace teh kitchen circuit or that...

What Amp rating for the kitchen?

I dont have the certificate yet as there is a cable that needed replacing before he could issue it, along with the hod cable being run in, which I have just changed over for him. CP

What Amp rating for the kitchen?

Thanks. That is what I suspected. Keep getting it in the neck from OH about more issues with new box than old one, etc, etc. Not 100% sure, but I think its a ring on 2.5mm. I think the box may be one of those you get the breakers with it, hence not enought 20Amp breakers upwards!!! CP

What Amp rating for the kitchen?

Hi Recevntly had the CU upgraded from a 2way wired box to a split load RCB box. The sparky has speperated the rings/radials as you would expect, but has put the kitchen on a 16A breaker, with the ceramic hob on a seperate breaker. The problem comes when we have the around 4 applicances on at...

    Roof vents

Thanks for your response. It is Kingspan that I will be using as well. The issue with aircon is exhausing it out of the loft, unless I used a roof tile vent??? Would a vent have high enough capacity for an air con unit? CP

    Roof vents

Thanks for your reply. Yes it is a kind of diy conversion, however I have purchased some insulation boards to go in the rafters and was considering drylining over then to seal them. Before I do that is therre any benefit to using the foil type board/insulation as well to deflect the heat from...

    Roof vents

Yes, the window does have a trickle vent, but the room still gets very hot as there is little circulation, hence why I was thinking of a roof vent as well to create circulation. Thnaks CP
