    Pump Sounds

Thanks for replying. The pipes are 22mm going to 10mm to each rad. There is no sludge, it's clean. I have loosened the centre screw and only water comes out. Could it be the pump ?.

    Pump Sounds

Hi When the central heating pump starts up I can hear a whooshing sound or a running of water sound in the area of both the pump and cylinder ( both are in the same cupboard. There is one motorised valve there also which appears to be working correctly. It seems to take the cylinder longer than...

    Going Wireless

Hi all, What is the easiest way for me to change to a wireless stat/timer. At present I have the boiler in the utility room, the timer in the airing cupboard ( Honeywell ST7199 ) and the standard rotary Honeywell stat in the hall but near the airing cupboard.

    Owner occupier servicing

It could be likened to repairing an oil fired pressure washer at your home, it's principly the same as an oil fired boiler. Of course you could fix it.

    Zone Valve Problem (maybe ?)

I read somewhere that if the lever n a zone valve is put to the Manual position it should then move back to the Auto position when the system starts up as normally i.e. when the programmer tells it to. On mine, I went to drain it down to clean it out and noticed the lever was in the manual...

    Draining down after Fernox Cleaner

Thanks I didn't realise there was a lever for this. On finding the lever I notice it's actually on Open rather than Auto. What effect would this have had on everything ????.

    Draining down after Fernox Cleaner

Whats the best way of draining down a vented Heating system after running Fernox F3 through the system, the system has a motorised valve and I thought that maybe just doing a standard drain down would not cause it to be fully emptied since the motor valve would be closed as the boiler would be...

    What boiler setting ?

I think the two settings I and many others have is a bit of a lay off between each other. Because if , boiler is set high and room stat is set at say 25, because surely the boiler would cut off once the room stat has reached 25 but get there quicker, not hotter ?

    What boiler setting ?

I have a 12 radiator system fired with a Merlin oil boiler 85,000 Btu's. What would be the best settings, the room stat is in the hall and I dont have any TRV's. I want it to be nice & warm throughout. At the moment I have the room stat set at about 21 and the dial on the boiler at 75. It goes...

    Bottle Valve ?

I have bottle vent valves on both the hot water cylinder & the boiler. On top of these are what looks like a car tyre dust cap. I have had to drain the system down and on refilling it should I remove the dust caps ?. I did and air , then water came out. The water only really stopped fully when...

    Oil Boilers

Thanks, I didn't want to have 2 boilers anyway. Do you know if the Trianco 70/90 I mentioned is any good ?. Also, as oil is new to me does turning it right up consume " a lot " more oil since the boiler is smallish I'm thinking turning it right up would make it warmer in the house whilst...

    Oil Boilers

Hi, I have a Myson 50/60 and it's struggling a bit keeping up with the demand. I have had it checked out with an engineer & he says it's running perfectly but is really on the small side for what it has to do. He suggested fitting another one along side this ( thus having 2 ) of a similar size...
