    Three way valve needs replacing?

Thanks for your reply. The system was upgraded some years ago from a full open vented (dhw and c/h from TWO tanks in the loft, one being smaller) to the c/h having a red pressure vessel with guage, filling loops and pump all in the boiler cupboard where the 3 way valve is. My concern is that as...

    Three way valve needs replacing?

I`m hoping someone can help on this. After several problems I want to replace the 3 way valve and actuator and have bought a Danfoss replacement pack of 3 way Valve Body, Actuator, Programmer, Cylinder stat, Room stat and wiring box as the whole pack was cheaper than buying just the valve and...

    35mm Door plugs?

Thanks for the replies. I can`t turn the door upside down as the door came with pre-cut holes on both edges in the same positions. I`m going to try and cut 35mm plugs using a hole cutter and bond them in using...... wood filler. Is two part filler best... or what else might be?

    35mm Door plugs?

Can anyone advise on the following problem please? We have had to replace our worn out integrated washing machine and found that the kitchen cabinet door mounting brackets on the new one are in a different position, therefore the 35mm hinge holes on the cabinet door won`t fit as they don't line...

    Three way valve needs replacing?

Many thanks to all for your help. With the actuator head off the valve but still wired in, the "key" hole where the valve spindle locates turns when the programmer is switched from ch to hw and vice-versa and seems to settle in the mid position when both are programmed a the same time. When...

    Three way valve needs replacing?

Thanks for the reply. The spindle has a flat on one side that engages with the same shape slot on the actuator so it cant be engaged wrongly. The A & B ports have been in the direction you mention. The system was installed some 7 years ago without any probs until last summer when the valve...

    Three way valve needs replacing?

From posts on this and other forums it seems the cause could be either: 1) The HSV3 three way valve body that has failed. 2) The HS3A Actuator has failed. 3) The Synchronous Motor in the Actuator has failed, or I`m hoping you guys in the know can advise further. Before my dad calls...

    Three way valve needs replacing?

Thanks for the reply. If it helps to diagnose the fault, with the programmer set to CH off and DHW on, the boiler heats the rads only, but if I turn the stat down on the HW cylinder the boiler goes off.

    Three way valve needs replacing?

The Danfoss HSA3 three way valve is playing up on my elderly dads heating system, which it has done before but this time I cant get it to run normally. Previously I have taken the actuator off and lightly lubricated the mechanism which has worked, but not so this time unfortunately. Last...

    Boiler prob after refilling

The pressure guage fluctuates wildly between 1 and 2 bar when the boiler is running on c/h. Would this indicate anything?

    Boiler prob after refilling

Help please as to the cause of this prob. Boiler is an Ideal HE30. For maintenance last weekend I drained the system and put in a c/h cleaner, as we`ve been in the house less than a year and I didn`t know if or when it was last done). I ran the system as usual for a week and yesterday...

When can I hang Rad on new wall?

Thanks for the reply. It was plastered the same day (7 days ago). I thought this would be a fairly straightforward question for a bricklayer or house builder but perhaps I didn't put enough info on my post. The work involved some 5 or 6 courses of bricks on the outer wall, building...

When can I hang Rad on new wall?

I`ve had an old low cill window replaced with a smaller one and the bottom 60cm of wall bricked up and I`m not sure how long the bricks/plaster etc take to dry out before I can hang a new radiator on the wall. The overall size of the new section of wall is approx 1200mm wide x 600mm high...

    S/Tapping Screw prob

Thanks for all the tips (scuse the pun). I`m going for the simpler option of blanking the sharp ends with thin (10mm ish) bands of wood.

    S/Tapping Screw prob

The best part of sixty screws. The real problem ones are at head height and waist height where the horizontal supporting rails for the shed are. Thanks for your help.

    Gas installation notifiable?

We had a new Gas Cooker installed some weeks ago and I am told by a friend that the Gas Safe Engineer should have given us, or arranged for a Certificate to say the work was in compliance with LA Building Regs etc. Can someone in the know please advise on any regs around this?

    S/Tapping Screw prob

Thanks for the reply John. The timber was my first thought and in the absence of anything else I think I`ll go for that which will also be useful for hanging hooks on etc. Thanks. :)

    S/Tapping Screw prob

After a full weekend and a lot of frustration (to say the least) due to gobbledygook manufacturer instructions, finally finished putting up a metal shed in the garden. I`ve now got a shed that looks good and seems fairly robust but there are a lot of Self Tapping screws protruding into the shed...

    Most secure type of fixing

Thanks for all the tips. I think I`ll go for normal screws and grind the heads down. The largest clutch screw Screwfix sell is 10 x 1.5" which are not long enough for a solid fixing taking the weight of a ladder into account. I cant find any larger clutch screws online either which in...

    Most secure type of fixing

I have to store my ladder on an outside wall so I`ve bought two lockable storage hooks that I can padlock the ladder to, but for security reasons I don't want to fix the brackets to the wall using ordinary s/s screws that can be easily unscrewed by an unwanted intruder or the like. Any one got...
