    Moving a socket

There you go then, one extra socket in the hall can come in handy. Most houses have just one and if you have the telephone out there plus a lamp there's no place to power the vaccy.

    Moving a socket

What's on the other side of the wall? Is it possible to move the socket to the other side and run a spur to the new position?

Cooker and shower on same circuit

DJdunky, I went to a house where the lady had been told not to operate the cooker at the same time as the shower. The CU revealed only one 6mm cable in the 3036 supplying the cooker and some numpty had JB'd the cable to run the shower.

RCD Integrated outdoor double socket outlet....

Small or not, supplies to gardens represent a greater risk of shock and are therefore notifiable. Suppose that someone installs the RCD incorrectly and someone dies as a result.......

I stand corrected it is tinned copper. but its still 1.5mm and that don't sound adequate.

2 circuits down one 4core and earth cable

If the op is using 2.5 for the live conductors for two circuits then 1.5 is not going to be adequate as a combined cpc for both finals. Correct me if I'm wrong but doesn't FP200 use an aluminium cpc? So add that into the equation.

CU change for assessment + questions + pics

I concur with Noxspark and spark 123. I would add an isolation switch so you can switch of the supply. If you get one and screw it in place, the nice man from the DNO will probably connect it up if you ask him nicely.

    Two devices on one CU

If you feed two appliances from one Fused Connection Unit FCU, then you would need to fit one fuse to accomodate them both being on at the same time. this would be the sum of the currents required. If you then fit this size fuse. one of the appliances could draw this much current without blowing...

    changing cooker socket

Part P of the building regulations requires that if a 'competent person' who is not registered under the self certification scheme, carried out work in a special location i.e. a KITCHEN, then Local Area Building Control, MUST be informed BEFORE work commences. This is the law. A competent...

2 circuits down one 4core and earth cable

No this is not allowed in the regs. Each final circuit must have its own cpc sized in accordance with the live conductors.

    Advice on a cable run

If you chase above the fire place no one is likely to know there is a cable buried there. Best to run the cables in steel conduit where the heat from the fire is unlikely to affect them.

Do bathroom 'zones' extend outside the bathroom door?

I'm with ridicle on this one. Sounds like a 5 day course Part P jockey. Ask him the times one trip time on a 30mA RCD, bet he looks it up.

    changing cooker socket

As long as you can fit the cable in the outlets terminals. I would down grade the MCB to B16 though. Are you aware of Part P of the building regulations and is your friend that trusting that he would accept someone altering his electrical installation without adequate knowledge and test...

Verification of Ring not adding up

Only way to prove the loop in loop theory is th open the ring and check continuity on the two cabled terminating at that socket.

Wiring two lighting circuits in singles in conduits

    1. You can use any colour you like but it must be identified at the point of termination in the regulation colours of Brown, Blue and Green/yellow. 2.NO you may not share a neutral between two circuits if they are supplied by different OCD's 3.Standard saddles are the only available support...

...and one other bit of advice, make sure you link into a feed cable as I have been called to more than one instalation where the client has connected into a switch wire by mistake.
