    Camray 5 - BOILER OVERHEAT/LIMIT THERMOSTAT

Hi, I had the boiler serviced on Friday by a new engineer because the other guy has retired. The new fella fitted a new nozzle, cleaned it out etc. He also reset the boiler using a little computer that I have never seen the previous engineer use. Yesterday we noticed that the boiler had not...

Build Stud walls before boarding ceiling?

In our single storey extension, I have the floor insulated and boarded. I now want to build the stud walls. The BC said there has to be 100mm Insulation board between the rafters, ensuring there is a 50mm air gap. Also there has to be another 40mm insulation board laid across the ceiling over...

    Floating Floor Advice Please

No the concrete was poured directly onto the concrete hard standing. 100mm of Insulation is going down to bring the floor level up to match the house floor. As Building Controller requested. Thanks for your help.

    Floating Floor Advice Please

Thanks for the other advice. Here are pictures of the DPC, oh ok. I see what I have done. Sorry for the confusion. (The old soldier in me has come out - Disruptive Pattern Material) So the Damp Proof Membrane is the plastic sheeting that goes on the concrete and the Damp Proof Course is...

    Floating Floor Advice Please

Floating Floor. I am going to lay a floating floor in the extension, but wanted to run how I am going to do it passed you guys to see if I have this right. We have built off a concrete slab, so the surface of that slab is the current floor. As I understand it I have to cover the concrete...

    New Roof Leaking Water

Well I have left it a few days, we have had some really heavy rain but no leak. Surprised I went up with the hosepipe again and soak the area and no leak. I have tried soaking the wall, soaking the overlap and where it is chased into the wall. No water is getting through. I am baffled by this...

    New Roof Leaking Water

But if it's getting through the render, the lead can't go in far enough, can it?

    New Roof Leaking Water

Ok, Firstly they are interlocking tiles. I carefully measured out the distance to the internal leak and transferred that to the outside. It falls directly over the lap joint. I have just been up with a hosepipe and sprayed the wall just above the lap joint, the lead and the tiles. Again water...

    New Roof Leaking Water

Thanks Woody, That makes sense. I think when he formed the lead the chase was about 15-20mm in depth. The render depth at various places is 15mm. So to remedy, should I remove all the flashing and start again? Or could I chase in another deeper flashing above, that drops down the face of the wall?

    New Roof Leaking Water

Surely if the lead was inserted deep enough into the wall, then water running down would hit the lead and be diverted across the tiles. The builder liked taking short cuts and I wonder if he has barely cut through the render and only just lipped the lead into the cut. Also the lead sealant is...

    New Roof Leaking Water

I have just measured the overlap, every 1.5 m length overlaps at 100mm.

    New Roof Leaking Water

Ok I know there is no double batten, so is that the problem? I don't understand how cavity trays can be installed. The main wall is the wall of the existing house. There was a cut made in the wall I saw the builder cutting it with a grinder so I guess the lead had been inserted, unless it has...
