Just a thought, can I PVA the surface and then paint over it? Just thinking this would seal the wood so the fibres won't show through in the paint. Phil

It looks ok, just got a bit of yellow on the top so will need a good stir. Its been sat under stairs all the time and yeah I know to thin the first coat :) Thanks Phil

Hello I'm going to do some painting on new plaster. I have a 10 litre tub of Dulux pure brilliant white and it has been stored under the stairs in the house. It's been opened (1/4 of paint left) and kept for about a year, would this be ok to use? Thanks Phil

Hello I'm planning to paint a couple of walls in my kitchen. However there are 2 areas of boxed in pipes and I want to paint the lot in one colour. Can I use a white water based satin (for wood) on the boxing in and then apply my coloured matt emulsion over it? Or would a coat of white matt...

Thanks for your replies. Its not coming off in sheets its just little flaky patches. It could be me not doing good enough prep when i painted before. I think i just slapped on some emulsion straight to bare plaster! Could i use that special bathroom paint? If so can that be used a mist coat? Phil

Hello, the paint on my bathroom ceiling is peeling off. So i intend to strip it back to bare plaster and re-paint. Whats the best way to prep the ceiling for painting (probably be matt if thats suitable?). Thanks. Phil
