Yes sorry Scottish Environment Protection Agency They are who I needed to get the OK from. They register all Septic Tanks and Soakaways here in Scotland. The tunnel system is here if you wanted to look. http://ask.septictank.co.uk/soakaway-tunnels/soakaway-tunnels/

    Soakaway Nightmare, Clay Soil

I had the same issue, and got agreement from SEPIA to use a tunnel system that site shallow in the top soil. Might be worth a look at.

    Building Stud Walls Off Floor

Interesting one here. We have removed all suspender timber floors, and concreted in an old 1900 cottage. The plan with the floor is next a layer of kingspan, then wet UFH pipes, then a pumped self level screed. At the moment it is all open plan, all walls have been removed, so my plan was I...

    Micro Sewage Treatment Plat location

Long story and I need to fit one of these, problem is space for this and drainage field. What is the closest I can put this to the house. In the Regs I found this. A septic tank should be located as far as is reasonably and economically practicable from a house. Although no specific distance...

    Soakaway Issues

It goes to a very saturated and blocked drainage field that I have no information or drawings for. Previous owner did not look after it, hence it all needs replacing now. At the moment I have to get the tank pumped fairly often. All a nightmare. The treatment plants say you can discharge...

    Soakaway Issues

I did 3 holes all with the same results, filled up themselves, I only have 2 sides of the garden that are lower than the house, so would need to used them for the flow. At the moment, EVERYTHING goes to a septic tank, bad I know, but this is how it was when I bought the cottage. Building...

    Soakaway Issues

Hi All, Hope you can help, renovating an old 1900's cottage, long story but need to put in new septic tank, and rain water drain. No mains drainage, so my plan was to put a soakaway for the rain water, and a separate one from mini sewage treatment plant. Problem is ground water is high and...

    Septic Tank

Fantastic, thank you for all the information. I have looked at a couple of units and install of tank looks very straightforward, compared to what we do for a petrol tank. So no issues, with that. Will have a good look in the new year as I have some time to get this done etc. Thank you again...

    Septic Tank

Thank you. I have experience I fitting large Petrol Station Fuel Tanks, of 100,000L etc, so I don't think I will have any issues from this point of view. Thank you very much for the very detailed reply, and very helpful. I will make 2 separate soakaways then, no issues, the rainwater one will...

    Septic Tank

Thank you very much. We had planned to use the original tank so never looked into any of this. When you say watercourse what exactly is that? I have no mains drainage at all, at the moment, all house, and gutter go into this tank (yes I know) and it seems its been like this for the last 60...

    Septic Tank

    Septic Tank

Yes I work in the petrol business and know all about confined space entry (actually fully trained on this, so could do entry) but would not want to. They are pushing for me to scrap the old tank, and install a new Mini Treatment Plant, as they tell me I don't need the drainage field then. So...

I have the following question from Building control. How do I go about finding this? House was build in 1900 and it was 2 semi detached now one 4 bedroom cottage. I am not sure where I would go for this information. Confirm capacity of existing septic tank (in litres) and demonstrate the...
