Are Knightsbridge EVOLVE Downlights any Good the kitchen?

Rock wool insulation in place as noise travels in the house. Was worth ripping down the ceilings when renovating, just for this. So only a bedroom above Not sure where you got the last 2 sentences from, I haven't mentioned the lights being good or any good. I am asking if the Brand and light is...

Are Knightsbridge EVOLVE Downlights any Good the kitchen?

Hi We are looking for some decent downlights for the kitchen. They have to be fire rated as there is insulation above (don't ask) We like the Knightsbridge, as we can buy different fronts if we change our minds i.e. not sure about paintable white or brushed steel. Also there do tiltable...

    Keypad for new Garden Gate

We generally go running via the back door and with a new garden gate, I was thinking a Keypad would be better, as one less key to carry. Most seem to be one sided, so buttons to get through, but a handle to let you out. So not really secure if they jump over the fence and open it. I know I...

Hi So surface mounting is the better solution, can anyone recommend a nice plain white surface mounted dimable LED similar size to spots? Cheers

How much space to leave around the down light in kings

The rafters total 210 in depth. That would be 150 you guys advice + insulation + air gap by felt. However with the differing advice and being up against time with plasterers we now have a tunnel gapy for front to back around the light. So I'm thinking the best I can do is put some...

How much space to leave around the down light in kings

@John D v2.0 Where is the damp air or vapour diffusing from. Is it from the room, through the insulation to the membrane? Once I have packed rock wool insulation into the void we made, fished through the cable, then filled the hole, this should be an ok barrier?

How much space to leave around the down light in kings

The builder said not a problem. Obviously is. So now looking at maybe something surface mounted, where we can drill a hole, fish out the cables and pack the hole with rock wool. Just have to find something that looks nice.

How much space to leave around the down light in kings

Thanks for the advice unfortunately we can't lower the ceiling due to windows. We're hoping to have angled spots set on dimmers so not too bright. We've had to make the best of it. Unfortunately limited insulation behind, will keep an eye on it for mold if we get condensation issues

How much space to leave around the down light in kings

Just seen the link to the image, cheers. If looks like we could achieve a 20mm air flow gap, 30mm insulation and then the 150mm for the light plus all the other insulation around it. Thanks

How much space to leave around the down light in kings

The electrician said that you need to leave space around and above due to heat and then there is the air gap between the felt and insulation. Thus if and when we put it back in, he said we would need 6inch holes through to the felt. I agree that insulation is important, just not sure of the...

How much space to leave around the down light in kings

Cheers the look nice We do like these https://www.astrolighting.com/products/5739-minima-round-adjustable-fire-rated As they are very minimal, hence the name. But am unsure about distance to insulation "Not Suitable for mounting on flammable materials. Not suitable for covering with...

How much space to leave around the down light in kings

Quick one, the electrician pulled out all the kingspan, mentioned something about need to leave space and can put some back in, but is obviously leaving to the plasterers, whose job it isn't. So down to me how much space should I leave around the spot? I have read 4 inches and 6 inches. We've...

Adding extra sleepwall in breeze block on concrete floor, without mortar?

@Mr Chibs I screwed lengths of 2x4 into the sides of the joists every couple of feet. Slight overkill, but no bounce and no lifting (from the slate packing) and should last well

Adding extra sleepwall in breeze block on concrete floor, without mortar?

Hi @foxhole those look great, however they don't go high enough and are a little more expensive that screwing multiple 2x4x35 lengths into the joist. I can't wait for this job to be finished..

    overlay Wet underfloor heating

Yes I agree WFH came from that premise. However if you want to retrofit on suspended timber the build up would result in short doorways large step into the room and /or tiny 1st step at the bottom of the . Overlay systems aren't as efficient, but seem a good alternative to radiators.

    overlay Wet underfloor heating

I came across them through a local firm in . They're a large German company. I always associate German companies with quality (dieselgate excluded). They do a heat output profile. I guess it's a toss up between companies as the products are similar. As long as your floor is sound and the...

Adding extra sleepwall in breeze block on concrete floor, without mortar?

I tried a few columns, with heavy concrete blocks and slate in a 35cm space.... It didn't really work as ever time you pack in slate it raises it slightly, as the whole floor is tied together. I have gone for the simpler, screwing legs into the side of the joists every couple of feet. This has...
