HETAS Engineers a bunch of lying so and so's....

Wrong...... Firstly, its a reccommendation, not mandatory, secondly, I have excellent draw And thus the bend does not have a problem.. Finally, my stove instructions specifically allow this configuration, thus my NCS is in fact fully compliant.

HETAS Engineers a bunch of lying so and so's....

Rewired my own place. Unlike the flue, got that signed off as it was good value for money. Spark who BC got round quoted "best wiring I have seen in ages". Yep. That's because I followed the regs to a tee, including clipping wires correctly and allowing minimum radii for strain. Resi electrics...

HETAS Engineers a bunch of lying so and so's....

Second winter with the flue, not a problem, no fires, no CO leakage. Swept myself, all still hunky dory. Looking on the sparks forum, looks as if the coalition are on a bit of a deregulatory push at the moment. Good for them!

self levelling screed on top of painted concrete?

Matty, thanks for the reply. Its not a new house, conservatory is a bit of a gash on and this is one of the last jobs on a list of "putting right botched internal jobs". I have hired a hand held grinder, I was looking at a pro line thing that woud have cost a bomb and needs a 32 amp supply...

Painted Conservatory flooring - please help

hi all, having an absolute nightmare with a 25m area to be slate tiled (flexible cement based adhesive). i was wondering rather than grinding off the paint, which is taking ages and trashing the house, i could pour a thin coat of self levelling screed to the concrete to provide a good key for...

    Forum Attitude to Non-Notification

Not everyone who drives without a licence harms anyone. Indeed, I get a fair few who do drive far more closely to the Highway Code than some who have a licence or drive professionally.

It's a bit like speeding though isn't it? It's only illegal when you get caught. And the main reason it's there is to keep bluntly the building control officer in employment.

No, will still work, it's just not best practice.

Electrical Safety Certs and other questions.

No, live goes to common, switch live to l1. The earth doesn't do anywhere near the com or l1. There should be a little brass connector in the housing that it connects to;,on this type of switch its kind of redundant as the housing is insulated and you only have 1 cable going in. If there was...

    Pulling down over head powerlines.

Correct. Risks need to be appropriately mitigated and the in place barriers need to be appropriate. Such an example I woul imagine would involve a spotter whilst passing near cables or alternatively asking the dno the height of the cable then measuring to the top of the digger. How's the...

ground floor power sockets routed off Upstairs ring...

Hi all, Wanted to thank you for responding to this thread. I finally managed to connect and test the last replaced circuit on my property this week (connecting 2 sides of the smoke detection system up). Whilst I may not have appreciated the suggestions of "getting someone else in to do...

Good outcome on the MSe website, shame HETAS demonstrated they were as much use as t@ts on a fish.

    carpenters must be rich

2 doors, 380 quid for a days work? Pretty steep but nowhere near as bad as those masked villains who fit wood burning stoves. 600 for a job that I ended up doing in half a day.

    Forum Attitude to Non-Notification

Sorry, In no way is wiring unqualified akin to drunk driving. In fact, show me a law that says that it is illegal to wire without qualification. Competence on the other hand is something completely different. Competence can be demonstrated by passing the required exams, it doesn't mean...
