Strange diversion of rain water pipe

Thank you, very true. I hear that over the years the clay gets too saturated and garden is too small to dig a new one.

Strange diversion of rain water pipe

Thank you so much. Yes I was mentioning to my wife about the plunger outside the house - and you mentioned as well lol. The estate agents claim there is a higher offer but I don’t believe it’s a simple job fitting a new soak away.

Strange diversion of rain water pipe

Hello great minds, We are looking at buying a property and it’s on a hilly clay. Looking at historic pictures it looks like about 5 years ago the rain water pipe has been diverted into the soil pipe and the one at front of house is discharging directly onto the driveway after it’s been diverted...

    Bungalow loft conversion

Thank you! The new timber propping looks like to support roof where a chimney stack was removed. So if I understood correctly, these steels will be in the loft space and not below existing ceiling?

    Bungalow loft conversion

Thank you ! Yes toilet ensuit towards sloping end with toilet under velux. Stairs smack in the middle running front to back, so two large rooms, left to right and possibly a single directly in dormer off the landing. One big room with ensuite the other with Jack and Jill. Drew some 2 d...

    Bungalow loft conversion

Dear All, Wanted to pick your brains. Planning on purchasing this bungalow to convert the loft to fit every one. Loft height is about 2.6m guess (32 red brick courses and 1 concrete block course high) 12m gable to gable and front to back 8m. Thinking of doing a rear dormer say 10 to 11 m wide so...

    Permitted development question

Is adding an extra storey or two to a residential detached house permitted development? If so why aren’t people going about doing so. Can I add 2 floors of 3.5m each to the first floor of my detached house without any planning permission. Keeping roof the same. Thank you

Maximum extension under PD for this plan

Does this mean I can go back off the kitchen width at 4m depth and off the side of the kitchen behind the lounge till it meets the main side wall ( all single story?)

Maximum extension under PD for this plan

Yes, the neighbours on one side is their garages and the other is their side wall with no windows so not sure how that applies here I am thinking of putting an offer on it and property is in an area where you cannot change the brick work. So trying to figure the worst case scenario

Maximum extension under PD for this plan

thank you! I sort of feared exactly what you mentioned. Currently the house is rather tight and difficult to extend. Can that L bit infill be a side extension or is that not permitted?

Maximum extension under PD for this plan

Dear All, I was thinking of extending this rear wards 2 storey or single storey but don't think it's straight forwards. Boundary to the right is on the line and the left is 1m, detached property. Garden is over 100ft. Would appreciate your thoughts and any sketches on the attached. Many Thanks!

    Cavity wall insulation

Thanks a lot! Is there any preference to the better type of CWI? Any recommendations for tradesmen in the Hillingdon area?

    Cavity wall insulation

Our house is a detached 1960s chalet style house (similar to a dormer bungalow) the cavity wall is not closed and has no insulation. I have access to the cavity in most places. Should I just chuck some loose eps beads off eBay? Couple of issues, Air bricks into cavity and then into suspended...
