I'll check exactly how its geting in there but it definately filled up, as the water was hot. I'll check the hydrogen theory and get some pics hopefully tomorow as I know they tell a 1000 words! Thanks for your input :)

System keeps filling up with air.

Hi all, was wondering if anyone had any idea what could be wrong with my sisters heating. She has a Baxi Solo boiler, the upstairs radiators keep getting air in them, downstairs seems ok. I air them and get the radiator warm then when the boiler gets turned on it just seems to empty and need...

    sockets gone off

Have you double checked there is nothing plugged in, when you say after a short delay it makes me think an appliance or something is turning on then tripping. Is circuit on an RCD, does MCB hold when you have no load connected. You could trace the cable run out with a multimeter/insulation...

Osram Son T vialox 250W Lamp

Hi RF, as he's just moved in we have never saw the lights fully working, now that you mention it, dont SON's tend to go a whitish colour as they start up so its possible that it should be the orangey colour once up to temperature? I put the old lamps back in just incase the "owners" thought...

Osram Son T vialox 250W Lamp

Hi folks, looking to do my mate a favour and get 2 car park lights going again as its pitch black. Long story short he's just moved in to his new house, nobody seems to know or want to know who owns/maintains the lights so we thought I'd just (hopefully) replace them, for the sake of 20 odd...

can we use timers on oil filled radiators

Probably asking the obvious here but at the side of the timer is there a 0 and 1. Sometimes you have to set the timer to on, or timed. As above, try it with a lamp or radio etc, if your not having much luck take it back to shop for exchange, you can pick them up for a couple of quid in the...

    Star Lighting in ceiling

Aslong as its a permanent supply and not a switched supply. You will need to mark the socket as lighting only-thats presuming your taking it off your existing lighting circuit. You could put a FCU (spur) in before the socket with a 3amp fuse in it to prevent the lighting MCB tripping should...

Ah right, fair enough. Hope you get it sorted OP!

Spotlights - HELP! I think I've made a complete MESS

Surely the place isn't going to fall down with a 2" hole driled in to a joist. OP wont be the first/last person to do this, I'm not saying its OK or anything but surely design of the structure would be seriously flawed if this was the case. *dawns tinfoil hat* As above, have a word...

    Shower - ceiling switch

Do you know what size of cable you have installed, hopefully it is 10mm and not 6mm. 10.8Kw @ 230v is 46 amps, your stated 10.8Kw may be at 240 which brings it down to 44Amps. You should replace with a 50Aamp pull cord and make sure your connections are tight.

    Shower - ceiling switch

What rating is your shower? what size of switch? More than likely a loose connection deteriorating through time.

Connection of central heating boiler thermostat.

Thanks, i'll suggest just using the TRV's to control the heat and just use the pre installed clock. Cheers

Connection of central heating boiler thermostat.

Hi, I try to avoid connecting up stats/timers to boilers at the best of times, so hopefully someone can help me connect up this programmable room thermostat to a friends boiler when it gets installed. Here is the 5/2 Day programmable room stat connections (this is a volt free battery operated...

    Star Lighting in ceiling

Mine cant be seen. I have an artexed ceiling so maybe they would be visible if it was a flush ceiling. Just make sure you get the right size drill and the hole should hold it in position, if you start messing about with glue it could get messy IMO.

    replacement fan isolator switch

Common should be your supply. I tend to put supply to the top and outgoing cables to fan on bottom when it comes to fan isolators that dont state otherwise ( not that it matters too much, its just a 3 pole switch). Remermber to mark what went where before you dismantle your switch just...
