    LED uplights to replace fluorescent

I'm trying to find an LED solution to replace some fluorescent uplights on top of kitchen cabinets. There are various lengths from 1ft to 3ft, and I'm replacing them every other year so thinking on replacing them with LED. I have a high ceiling so they would need a 'flood' effect similar to...

    Personal Alarm

I have an unexpected and unfortunate need to provide a personal alarm for a health condition for a member of my family. I have a texecom premier elite and in process of integrating IP cameras although already have access sorted through a synology app. I can't rely on comip for a life critical...

    ComIP Dynamic DNS

Thank you, all up and running, I was tying myself in knots due to the number of different places the info had to be entered. Pretty stable so far.

    Texecom Wintex on Mac OS

Up and running, I've been staring at a wired up panel, comIP etc for a few weeks, fired up tonight, Wintex working across router, hardwired circuits working and ricochet sensors learned. Far less painful than I expected. Here's to a few weeks of tinkering with the myriad of options :-)

    Hard wood decking types/colours

The grain looks very similar so I expect it's a hardwood with a wide range of variation. Quick search for that wood type suggests it varies from deep red to yellow. Personally I think it looks good providing you avoid blocks of similar colour. There are very few products that will achieve a...

    Texecom Wintex on Mac OS

Has anyone managed to get WINTEX to work with any of the Windows emulators for MAC OS? I thought I had an old windows machine but it's well and truly dead :-( I suspect I'll need to borrow or purchase a second. Thanks

    smart home security alarm recommendation

The honeywell so far has very limited cross compatibility between devices, and is pricey. Also the peripherals are not really of the minimum spec that might be demanded for home security. I have the honeywell evohome heating with wireless TRV's, but I've stopped short of the honeywell evohome...

Are auto reel hoses any good? Need pivot.

I have an expensive one I guess, of the bright yellow variety, I have had it for two winters, it still works as specified and it is an absolute dream as opposed to storing 40m of hose etc etc. That said, UV on the external plastic has already started to brittle things up and the return spring...

Outdoor tap through wall backplate problem

The backplate has come away from the through wall copper pipe from my outdoor tap. I have about an inch of copper pipe to work with on the outside with no access to the inside. I've tried unsuccessfully to solder it back on as there's not much access to the joint, does anyone know if you can...

    Wireless alarms, honeywell, Yale etc

A stunningly useful thread, but it did make me chuckle on a Friday night. I'm hoping that I don't get burgled whilst I make my mind up on the best wireless or hybrid or wired alarm. It's pretty obvious how a decent wireless alarm can mitigate jamming, yet there's always some spectacular...

Wired CCTV in through Granite house

Cable access rods up through the vent, it's amazing how far off you can be once in a loft. If I were drilling through that wall I wouldn't be drilling a 30mm hole, something around 10mm through a mortar joint and chance your luck. All a guess based on your description ;-)

    Oak seating and shelving

JobAndKnock thanks some great advice there. Also investigating some local saw mills. I've found someone who can do the big cuts for me and plane a finish. Back to the drawing board. Andy I'm very keen on your solution, it even fits! But we've just nocked down a porch that looked like a...
