    Laminate Door Threshold

I can only see thinner thresholds for laminate to carpet. Or am I missing something here. I wanted to get them first as I don’t know how much space to leave if I was to find thinner ones. I’m a little stumped on this, that’s why I asked the question

    Thistle Undercoat vs Thistle Bonding

I know I could feather it out with easi fill but I don’t think you can use easi fill thicker than 6mm can you?

    Thistle Undercoat vs Thistle Bonding

Just like to fill that are out but it’s a bit too much for multi finish I’m guessing. Wondering if I could fill it out with bonding and then smooth it out with a easi fill or something similar? Your advice is much appreciated.

    Thistle Undercoat vs Thistle Bonding

Not the greatest photo but it down by where the skirting will go there is about a 10mm bow on the finishing. When skirting is on it will look quite bad.

    Thistle Undercoat vs Thistle Bonding

Hi guys, I hope someone can help. I had some plastering done by my builder. He left it smooth but on 1 of the walls there is a bow out by about 10mm. Due to other problems I have had with him I told him to leave the job. I just basically want to fill out that 10mm bowed board. It’s about 500mm...

Concerned about cabling running behind polystyrene plasterboard

Well I just wanted to thank you for you feedback so far. I think I may contact building regs as they passed it off and I paid for them to do a job.

Concerned about cabling running behind polystyrene plasterboard

There was definitely no film applied on the back of the polystyrene. There is a thin foil layer between Plasterboard and polystyrene, I believe this is a vapour barrier. The battens used were 3 x 2 but lay on the wall on the 3” side. So the hole was drilled through the centre of the 2” side.

Concerned about cabling running behind polystyrene plasterboard

It has been done as I described. Cables were passed through holes drilled through the battens, then the cable was fed through. Then those polystyrene plasterboards we’re screwed into the battens. No barrier is applied on the back of the foam. The wires would not be in direct contact with the...

Concerned about cabling running behind polystyrene plasterboard

I’m no builder. And that’s why I got a professional in to do the work. I just need some feedback as to what I can do next. Because I will take this further if he has done it wrong.

Concerned about cabling running behind polystyrene plasterboard

To be honest I employed a builder who had amazing reviews to do a pretty simple job. I didn’t expect to be checking up on a qualified builders work. That’s his job at the end of the day. But if it’s going to affect the lives of my family then I will do what it takes to get this resolved. I seen...

Concerned about cabling running behind polystyrene plasterboard

I really don’t know. The builder used a private Building Regulations company and I have a certificate. Is this something I can call them out on? I’m really concerned now of a fire being caused.

Concerned about cabling running behind polystyrene plasterboard

So the electrics have been wired directly to my fuse box with 2 new RCDs I think they are called. 1 for lighting and one for sockets. Should this polystyrene plasterboard have been passed off by building regs?

Concerned about cabling running behind polystyrene plasterboard

I don’t know what the builders used. There is the same amount of polystyrene to plasterboard and there seems to be a silver foil inbetween the 2 substrates.

Concerned about cabling running behind polystyrene plasterboard

Oh I just thought you couldn’t run electric cables behind polystyrene backed plasterboard.

Concerned about cabling running behind polystyrene plasterboard

I don’t unfortunately. The wires were run through holes in the battening. With it being polystyrene backed plasterboard with this cause problems with the wiring if it’s not in conduit?

Concerned about cabling running behind polystyrene plasterboard

Hi there, I hope someone can give me advice. I had my garage converted by a so called professional builder. he has battened a breeze block cavity and put polystyrene backed plasterboard onto the battens before plastering. Please see images attached. The electrician drilled through the battens...

    Boarding and Plastering

To be honest. Looking at this jokers work I don’t want him back. I’d rather try and tackle it myself. I could have done a better job myself. He gives a bad name to decent builders.
