Jack Monroe to sue MP Lee Anderson

So you've accused Lower of not providing evidence, and now you counter with a reotorical point  Why don't you provide evidence that no person based on an unqualified definition of "poor" has never bought one of her books?

Jack Monroe to sue MP Lee Anderson

Define poor. Define a fortune. She obviously doesn't give all her books away for free

    Anyone for Maccy D’s?

All these fast food restaurants have gone downhill since the 90s. I never went to them much at all. But they used to be clean welcoming places with comfortable seats and kids would have birthday parties. Now it's all plastic tables, rock hard seats, overflowing bins etc. This was one...

External sealant around windows / doors

Hi, The sealant around my door (and the windows at the back) is rather poor. You can see from a small section on the door there are gaps and it hasn't been smoothed down properly. What can I do? Is it worth trying to go over the existing stuff with some more, or does it need to be removed...

Some questions about my phone/adsl setup

Hi, I moved into a new build last year, when I moved in there was no BT/Openreach line, and there were 2 white telephone cables unconnected going to a socket in the lounge and one in the bedroom. I had a line installed and I got openreach to put the master socket (5C) close to the cables so I...

Eco-Warriors - Driver Banned For One Year = Credit To The Police!!!

Not a safe demo. Obstructing a highway, causing danger to road users which are criminal offences. Looks like they will get their day in court but I suspect they will push it a higher court so they can be judged by jury and get an army of lawyers behind them or just disrupt the court like they...

    Stream Music Through HiFi

I may have mentioned this before but I built one of these back around 2015/2016, I added an IR reciever and a LCD display to it, and it is connected to the optical input on my Denon hifi. https://volumio.com/en/raspberry-pi-i2s-dac-sounds-so-good/ Only issue I find is internet streaming is...

What have you turned off to save energy?

Suprise, suprise - It was a British Gas report that came out. I guess that when everyone looks at their direct debits and gets a shock British Gas will come along and say 'Look we told you so' and it's all OUR fault with all the devices on standby Complete rubbish as usual re: TVs on standby...

    FM / DAB Aerials

Yes I think I am probably worrying about something I will probably never use! Looks like you really need 2 Aerials.

    FM / DAB Aerials

Just been looking at some TV outlets as I have just run some WF100 to a room I am turning into a study/office, I noticed the ones with an extra FM/DAB connector. I also remembered I have a connector for an external aerial on my HiFi setup. If I wanted to use this would a need a seperate...

Adding sockets to car port, what are my options

I think I asked this question somewhat some months back but I didn't give full details. I would like to have a couple of double sockets in my car port (for garden tools etc) plus possibly a single in case I am allowed to have an electric roller door in the future. There is a socket on the...

    Shower screen on bath

Thanks for the all the advice, the current seal is a twin, but as said there is a slight gap (screen just a touch too high) At the moment I have pulled the seal down a bit to close the gap but I will try and find a slightly deeper seal

    Shower screen on bath

Never used one of these before and the first time using it the screen had swinged opened a bit and managed to splash water on the floor for 20-30secs. There is an ever so slight gap when the screen is in position but if it's held it place it seems to stop the water, so probably needs a slight...

Decent carbon filters for solder fume extractor?

I made one exactly like this guy (even put some leds on it as well like he did) Can't remember if I put a filter in it but will certainly look at doing that if not. Have quite a lengthy hose on it so that gets the fumes a good distance away.

    Weird joist layout

I am assuming the front to back joists are supported by the front wall at the front of the house, at the back by a beam that goes across the house. The side to side joists are clearly supported by joists which are 1600mm apart so I don't know how the loading calculations would work it a...

    Will Smith. Right or wrong?

Jokes have been made about all sorts of things, war, certainly medical conditions. Comedy is one way of dealing with tragedy. I would just let go if I had a partner. Got much bigger issues to worry about, which I'd guess most celebs are immune from. Words are not violence.

    Will Smith. Right or wrong?

Lol. What a joke, must of been so traumatic for poor Will. He just recently had to have his tennis court rebuilt because of a fire. Tragic.

Master socket 5c and mk4 faceplate problems

Polarity doesn't matter apparently. If everything is ok with a standalone filter plugged into the test socket it does sound like it's the faceplate. I switched over to a mk4 recently and now my broadband is slower! Not sure what my issue is but will investigate when I have more time.

    Weird joist layout

Hi, Not sure if this should be the Building forum or the Floors forum... While trying to run ethernet around my house I have come across a confusing situation and since I am not a builder it has got me a bit concerned. It seems one of my joists ends mid span and then from then there are some...

Solar power. Is it worth it?

Or you might have moved house! Although I suppose you could argue solar panels might add to the sale price. The other factor is that even if you do all the Math, there are so many unknowns - Will the unit price of electricity go up even more massively over the next few years? Will petrol prices...
