They threatened Corbyn would take us back to the 70s.. But the Tories did

"terrorists" "invaded" :ROFLMAO: People were walking single file between the guide ropes, escorted by police taking selfies and posting on social media. One guy stole a lecturn and waved to the camera. I've seen worse behaviour on a student night out. Contrast this with antifa mobs in full...

    1byone Digital Aerial

Thanks everyone, the aerial has been put on hold for the moment with other diy jobs taking over, but when I get round to it I think I will pass on it. Interesting to know it's just a grid aerial inside.

    M25 Eco Protests

Did anyone one look into the reasoning behind their demands? They are pointing to an 2018 IET report which says (among other things) in the winter heat demand in GW is 6 times electric demand - This graph comes from another report from the Energy Technology Institute which cites a 2010 Paper...

Free stuff I want to get rid of

Wow, I remember I last went to a boot sale around 15 years ago - I reckon at a guess 80% were traders who would turn up first thing and then jump on the family cars. Some guy was picking through stuff in my boot before I'd even unloaded and people were offering silly money it just wasn't worth...

Free stuff I want to get rid of

I used to give stuff to charity shops as I thought it was helping people in need then some places started refusing stuff and getting picky, then loads of "charity shops" started appearing after 2008 crash and charging insane prices for things (whereas before pretty much everything was 50p)...

    1byone Digital Aerial

Has anyone had any experience of these Aerials? https://www.amazon.co.uk/Outdoor-Receiver-Freeview-Technology-Waterproof-White/dp/B01HD653WS/ I'm a bit concerned a normal aerial would stand out quite a lot. I haven't seen any on houses near me so I'm assuming they are heavily dependent on area.

What to use between upvc door and wall

The house is a new build I think they didn't really finish it off properly, the window frames are the same (no sealant on the inside) This is one of the window frames, not a big deal just looks a little untidy. I think I will fill up any big gaps, sand smooth and use some frame sealant (y)

What to use between upvc door and wall

Hi, in my property there are gaps/cracking between the upvc door and the wall. In most other properties the upvc door has trim on the sides that covers this up. Also I have the same gaps/cracking around the window frames. What should I use to tidy this up, decorators caulk or some frame...

    Type of Insulation?

Thankyou I think it is probably Earthwool then. Dense candyfloss is exactly how I would describe it!

    Type of Insulation?

Hi, I mentioned in another thread that while tracing a cable run I found out the extractor fan in my bathroom is not connected to a hose. I took the fan off and there is a ton of insulation up there but I managed to find the end of the hose by feeling around. I'm going to have to break some...

Running ethernet and CCTV cabling in house

Using the screen and coax did give an even stronger signal although there wasn't an awful lot of difference but as said there is something for sure up in the roof space. So I will hook up a TV (on the off chance there is an aerial up there) and if not I will have to try and find the end of cable...

Running ethernet and CCTV cabling in house

Yes, already planning on this - I know all the technical details it's just running cables through walls that I know nothing about. Yes it is a new build but I think builders will always do the least work needed! The house is a semi, and I can't see any cables or access holes (unless there is...

Running ethernet and CCTV cabling in house

Going back to the ethernet wiring, I would like 2 sockets in the lounge. I currently have (I think) screed on the floor downstairs. Above the lounge some of the roof is flat, so I will either have to route along the floor or cut holes in the ceiling and then channel down the wall and patch up...

    Arcade machine build

I am planning to build one when I move into my new place. Mine will be a full size standing one. I found a UK site that builds them but I can't remember the address any more. I think it was bitcade but they seem to have less DIY kits now - they are more focused on pre-built that are really...

Running ethernet and CCTV cabling in house

I bought a reasonably priced tone generator, turned off all power at the CU and connected the black crimp to the screening and red to the core. I'm not quite sure if this is correct but it did give some interesting results. The only places I could pick up the tone were: * Within 3 feet of the...

Running ethernet and CCTV cabling in house

Are these the tone generators? I've seen videos where people had said they can be good enough to trace a wire through walls, but then I've also seen videos which seem to show some are only good enough if you are literally touching the end of the cable with the tracer!

    Lines in paintwork

Hi, I have a stud wall with door which was plasterboarded and then plastered over. I let my brother do the mist coat and first coat of emulsion, but noticed paint lines near some of the edges and the corners I sanded the areas last weekend and while it reduced them a bit some are still visible...

Running ethernet and CCTV cabling in house

I think the stuff in the knee wall is probably PIR or something similar as seems really thick. Probably explains why my stud finder was giving odd readings. Under the floorboards it seems like kinda like the brown candy floss which is much thinner (although still a bit of a pain) I still can't...
