Phenomenal gas usage from Vokera Linea boiler ?

Thanks. I think my 43 units since Monday, is about £18. In 4 days. That's £135/month. Ouch. I can't cope with that.

Phenomenal gas usage from Vokera Linea boiler ?

I was testing by running the hot water. Perhaps my daily showers are too long? The shower runs from the normal water. Gas is only used for water and central heating. Cooker is electric. I have used 43 "units" since Monday. I think that equates to about 480kWh. Does that sound...

Phenomenal gas usage from Vokera Linea boiler ?

Please look at the videos. Is my gas meter spinning way too quickly?? Just got my first gas bill. £131.48 for ~39 days. Because the boiler loses pressure when it's off, I have had it coming on periodically throughout the day & night. Perhaps this is bound to be expensive? I didn't think...

wood/laminate flooring & retaining access under floorboa

OK thanks guys. So basically, I should probably just, erm, make sure I've got the wires that I need before I do the flooring? I'm thinking of doing it myself, with tongue & groove veneered/"engineered" oak flooring.

    Vokera Linea rattle noise

Oh, I do have pressure loss problems. I don't know if that's related. I have the heating cycling on for 15 minutes roughly every hour or two. It's either that, or cutting off two of the upstairs heaters, that seems to have stopped the pressure loss being an issue. Prior to that, if the heating...

wood/laminate flooring & retaining access under floorboa

Hi. I have moved into my first house and it really needs the front room carpet sprucing up. I was thinking about wood or laminate flooring though. It's a 1920s semi though and there's a ~0.5meter cavity below the floorboards, through which central heating pipes, TV, satellite and mains cables...

Help with weird light-switch wiring in living room

Sweeeet :D All working now! Both lights come on/off together, from either switch. Super! Spark123, Adam, thank you very much! I'm really pleased. What a great forum :)

Help with weird light-switch wiring in living room

My meter's not a bad one - an Iso-tech I bought from RS so that should be OK. For some reason I had it in my mind that I'd be testing mains without having a ground to connect to, which was stupid of me :) I'll use the meter then tomorrow, or try out Adam's suggestion of swapping those wires for...

Help with weird light-switch wiring in living room

Ah, I see what you're saying. There doesn't seem to be any purpose to having that single red wire connected to nothing. What I'll do is buy one of those glow-light screwdriver mains tester thingies (what're they called?) and have my girlfriend switch the lights while I test. Is that a...

Help with weird light-switch wiring in living room

Ah, I can see that. Normally the large group of live wires goes in the middle connection-block, right? Anyway, here is the other ceiling rose - the side which does switch off/on:

Help with weird light-switch wiring in living room

I was able to stand on the sofa and get a picture of the wiring into one of the ceiling roses. This is the one that can't be switched off: Anything seem unusual? Hang on, I think with a chair I'll be able to reach the other one too..

Help with weird light-switch wiring in living room

I have a multimeter at my office so I'll test the switches tomorrow. Does a faulty switch fit the pattern of behaviour here? It's strange, because I think in a normal two-way switch setup thingy, you can turn the light on/off with either switch, but that's not the case here - if one switch is...

Help with weird light-switch wiring in living room

Of course I am not sure whether the lights are meant to be independantly switched. It might be the case that they're both supposed to come on/off at the same time, with either switch, or it could be that it's supposed to be one switch per light. I have no idea.

Help with weird light-switch wiring in living room

Coming right up! Thanks for such a quick reply. +++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++ Here they are: This is on the side of the light which can't be switched off: This is on the side of the light which is affected by both switches: The fact that the two screws were left in...

Help with weird light-switch wiring in living room

Hi. I wonder if somebody can help us. The light switches in our living room are strange. They have always been this way since we moved in a couple of years ago and I'm thinking somebody has simply wired up one of the switches wrong. The room has two lights, one either side, with a...
