extending brick wall with plaster board (and tiling advice)

I have a wall with a step in it which I would like to make level. The slight loss of space is worth it to ease fitting a kitchen! I will be bricking up the door you can see in the picture so the new bit of wall will run past there. I was planning on extending it with some stud work and plaster...

    Drilling into stee lintel

How'd you get on? , I've just drilled 6 holes (6mm Cobalt then 14mm HSS and a copious amount of this: http://www.toolstation.com/shop/Automotive/d60/Lubricants+%26+Sprays/sd2795/Cutting+%26+Drilling+Cooling+Lubricant/p75018 They went fairly easily. Used a fairly unwieldy SDS drill as it spun...

What do I need to blank this off. (Waste pipe T)

Is the actual soil pipe a standard fit.. Could I replace it with this http://www.screwfix.com/p/floplast-sp190-92-5-branch-black-110mm/29610 with a fairly high chance of it not leaking at least I'll have a standard 32mm output then! Space is at a bit of a premium so it would be good to box it...

What do I need to blank this off. (Waste pipe T)

I did wonder about that.. Its not moved for 20+ years Could I just replace the 0 ring as well? Is it one of these? http://www.toolstation.com/shop/Plumbing/d20/Washers+%26+Fixings/sd2703/Trap+Inlet+Washer/p99131 If its not possible to replace the o ring I'll cut the pipe..

What do I need to blank this off. (Waste pipe T)

The rest of the pipe is solvent welded.. Is it possible that the first join is push fit and the rest welded? - I thought I had read they weren't compatible

What do I need to blank this off. (Waste pipe T)

Whats the easiest way for me to remove this and black it off?. I'm assuming its solvent welded. Would this be what I need: http://www.screwfix.com/p/floplast-abs-access-plugs-white-32mm-5-pack/87263 OD of the grey bit is 48mm OD of the black is 36 I'm assuming it is all based around Ø32 pipe?

Uneven and bulging concrete floor. Sulphate attack? (with pictures)

http://www.diynot.com/diy/threads/sulphate-attack-replace-with-concrete-or-suspended-timber.246433/ This was the thread I was referring to. I think I've miss interpreted! I'll dig the lot out! Not the sort of job I fancy doing twice.. I don't suppose you can recommend any labs I can send...

Uneven and bulging concrete floor. Sulphate attack? (with pictures)

So I think I'm digging the floor up! I've broken open one of the cracks at the edge of the room and there doesn't appear to be much under. I made a small hand size hole and could get most of my arm under. There are a few damp bricks wedged in but nothing in the way of compacted hard core. This...

    Asphalt floor repair (or alternatives)

Yes it is the floor with the sulphate heave. Really unsure about what to do with it. I don't want to bodge it but equally I don't want to spend £*000's if not absolutely necessary. I'm guessing by that comment that you would be digging it out Nige? I've spoken to various other people, most...

    Asphalt floor repair (or alternatives)

Vinn, The other post was from 2010 with few reply's. The only suggestion was to pay to have it re-asphalted. I've re-posted as i'm hoping there has been some other suitable product developed in the last 6.5 years! The asphalt top coat seems to be a fairly popular method of damp proofing 50 year...

    Asphalt floor repair (or alternatives)

There are a few similar posts in the flooring section but none have any usable solutions so I thought I'd try in here! I've taken some patches of the 20mm deep asphalt coating in a room (The patches are now down to concrete) I need to fill them in again and I am struggling to find a suitable...

Uneven and bulging concrete floor. Sulphate attack? (with pictures)

It is a known area. The floor has been this bad for 20+ years. If that makes any difference to the action taken. So not like a pipe bust and it's suddenly occurred or maybe it burst 20 years ago and no action was taken with the floor. But worth checking for piece of mind! (House was brought new...

Uneven and bulging concrete floor. Sulphate attack? (with pictures)

Uneven and bulging concrete floor. Sulphate attack? (with pictures)

I'm not actually sure.. I guess I'd need to have the concrete tested. I'd assumed it was the hardcore that was the issue with a normal concrete slab above. I'm going to knock on a few more neighbours doors this weekend.. see if anyone can shed more light. Re digging it up. Are both internal...

Uneven and bulging concrete floor. Sulphate attack? (with pictures)

I originally posted this in the flooring section but given the nature of it it is probably better in Building!. Not sure how to handle this and its the first thing I need to decide on before doing anything else! I have recently acquired a 1960 Derby based house from my parents and understand...

Uneven and bulging concrete floor. Sulphate attack? (with pictures)

Another point is the floors are different in the house, the white tiles (Lounge and dining room) are onto concrete with a think bitumen glue. The hall and kitchen look like there is a 15mm layer (asphalt) so assuming some work has been done previously and it wasn't built like this.. Edit...

Uneven and bulging concrete floor. Sulphate attack? (with pictures)

Not sure how to handle this and its the first thing I need to decide on before doing anything else! I have recently acquired a 1960 Derby based house from my parents and understand that is has an issue with sulphate based hardcore / ground floor. Underfoot the floor feels obviously un-even with...
