I am going to tile the kithen floor and was thinking of using oriented strand board over the floorboards, instead of ply, as it costs half the price. Would this be a problem?

They are OK. Thanks for your interest. Just one last point - I think the unreliable venturi showers are called H2O. From what I have seen on the net, they seem to fail after a year.

Interesting variety of replies. Since I posted, I have been doing a bit of surfing and it appears that Ryobi was a high end Japanese manufacturer that has sold out and is now Chinese owned. Apparently the Ryobi tools on the market now are not as good as those which were sold a few years ago.

I had the same problem on my Passat TDI and it was the MAF (it's always the MAF!). Has your fuel consumption got better? Mine did whilst the MAF was faulty.

You need to think of unconventional solutions. Do you know anyone that works in the mechanical or electrical engineering industry? The fan can probably be repaired by an engineer, "fiddler" or enthusiast, you just need to find the right person.

My microbore system has been in 25 years. Downstairs 10mm, upstairs 8mm. Still Ok :)

Sorry I can't help you but why do you say the fact that the system is microbore will affect the cost.
